Yankee - I think I'm becoming a democrat!
Has anyone heard or seen what is going on in Wisconsin right now? Basically our Governor (R) is trying to take away all union bargaining rights from teachers and state and county workers. He is also trying to make us pay more towards our pensions/retirement and increase what we pay towards our health insurance premium.
So they were supposed to vote on it yesterday and since the Governor wouldn't negotiate at all with what the democrats were suggesting, the democrats all fled to Rockford, IL so they couldn't vote. This is crazy!
I am not completely against what he is trying to do, I just feel like he is going about it the wrong way; too much, too soon. He could ease into it... I feel like he is trying to be a bully. I also feel like he is pissing so many people off that Wisconsin will never elect another republican governor in my lifetime.
Also, I am getting really irritated with people making blanket statements about county and state workers/teachers, that we are lazy/underworked and overpayed, those that say we have no right to fight for our benefits... I am sick of hearing people make rash/disrespectful comments questioning my work integrity.
Re: I am so frustrated right now... (NBR) *politics related*
I read about that. Insane!
It could be worse. You could live in Texas.
I agree this is crazy. I also find the Police hunt for the democrats crazy.
I haven't fully invested in following the story, so this is all I have to say.
Or South Carolina. As much as I love my state, the politics here are so extreme.
I've been watching what happening and it's crazy!
While I disagree with what the governer is doing, I also disagree with what the democratic lawmakers have done. If you're going to fight something, do it face to face.
It just seems like one big clusterfvck.
Insanity on the Appalachian Trail
I don't understand how someone can know the quality/quantity of work someone does in a field completely unrelated to their own...My sister is a teacher and I don't know that I could do it.
No judgement here on work integrity...I'm bumpin, at work...lol
Yes. Sadly, yes.
I have always leaned republican and I do believe we need to cut spending. I actually do believe that I should have to pitch in for my pension and maybe more for our health insurance premiums... I just think gradually is the key. Bullying is not. I feel like I got jooked.
I'm not trying to stick up for them... But I think if they would have showed up they had to vote and the bill would have passed. Walker was not up for any negotiations, so they did the only thing they could do. IDK...
I have seriously 'unfriended' probably 5 people in the last 2 days on FB because of this very reason.
