Question of the Day:

How did/will you manage RE appointments with having a LO?

If my appointments are during the week she gets dropped off at daycare by Dh.  If they are on the weekend I go alone and Dh watched DD.  I'm hoping the day of the transfer is a weekday, if not I think a close co-worker friend of mine will watch DD.  I don't take her to the RE I think its rude/inconsiderate of those patients who don't have LO's.

  • QOTD: I'm not sure what will happen since this is a new RE 2 hours away. If it were in town it would be no problem.  It will probably be my cousin that keeps him while I work, DH has 2 aunts that can keep him also.  Depending on the type of appointments DH and I may go together and take DS and they can just wait in the car, I guess we'll just play it by ear.

  • Weekday monitoring is early enough that I can go and be back before DH has to go to work. For the transfer (and any retrieval if we do a fresh cycle again), DH either has to take off work or work from home. I will likely go to the transfer by myself bc DH will be home with DD. Worst case, I have a girlfriend that can take DD for a few hours, but I hesitate to rely on her too much. We have no family nearby and no daycare option. If we know far enough in advance, we may also fly my FIL in from out of state to watch DD after the transfer so I can do a day or two of modified bed rest. Really, I just hope the transfer is on a weekend so DH will be home!

  • QOTD: I'm not sure yet... If DH is around, he'd probably take care of LO. If not, I'd have to work out something with my daycare provider. She's pretty flexible, so dropping off early should not be an issue.

  • Can you add me PLEASE?

    QOTD:

I would NEVER bring my kids to the RE's office.  Never ever ever.  They will be at DC or DH will have to watch them.  My RE had asked me to bring them, I said no thank you.

  • Oh goodness, that's a good question! Probably going to have to ask the IL's to take him to DC on monitoring mornings b/c DH has to be at work at 6:30 a.m. For the ER/ET, DH will have to take vacation and do double-duty at home! I definitely wouldn't take DS to the appts.
  • DH will need to drop off at daycare which is WAY out of his way but RE is not close to home and in order for me to be there when they open, it's the only option. If it's the weekend, DH will watch DS. The RE does have a family waiting area but I know how it made me feel to see babies coming through the first time around so I don't see that as an option.

  • Please add me to the list.  I have an RE appt in a few weeks to start the IVF process again in June hopefully.

QOTD:  DH will drop off DS at daycare so I can make it to the early morning appts.  If he is out of town - I think I could get him dropped off by 6:00am when they open and still make it to the appointment on time if needed.
