Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Exersaucer vs. Jumperoo-which would you buy?

I am looking to buy one of the two for DD. We haven't been able to use either yet, as she has hip dysplasia and has been in a harness for 6 weeks. She gets to be out of the harness after her appt on Monday, so I am excited to have another activity for her to do besides her bouncy seat or play mat.

I want to hear opinions on which to get, because I don't know if both are really necessary at this point. What do you ladies recommend?

  • Check out the Merry Muscles Jumper - my son absolutely loves his!

  • We have both and he likes the jumper significantly more

  • We have both and DS prefers the Jumperoo.  He does like his exersaucer, though.

  • We got the exersaucer as a gift and when he got too big for his chair and swing we put him in that. We bought the jumper-roo about a month later and he wanted nothing to do with the exersaucer after that.

  • DS prefers his Jumperoo. But before you go out and buy either one (they're expensive!) check around on CraigsList or a local consignment shop, or post a call for them on Facebook -- that's how I got mine, for free! Since these toys are so quickly outgrown, lots of people have lightly used and good condition jumpers and exersaucers they're looking to unload or even just let you borrow so maybe you can get used versions of both. That's what we did, plus I got one to keep at my mom's house for when she watches him.

  • I'd say if we had to choose one, it would be the jumperoo!

She LOVES to jump, but is a big fan of having toys around her too...

  • I think I am the minority here, but DS loves his exersaucer. I really think it's just because he hasn't learned to jump in the jumperoo yet. He just kind of stands there!

  • Thanks for your responses, I guess jumperoo's are more popular! I am going to shop this weekend and hope to find one :)

Good idea, my mom will probably do this since she watches DD while I work, she has gotten some good awesome baby items from Craigslist that were hardly used too!

  • Jumperoo fo' sho'!  DD is a jumpin fool, she would stay in that thing all day long if I let her.

  • We have both. He likes the Exersaucer when he is being fussy and can't stand the Jumperoo. I have no idea why. I think he likes the Jumperoo more.

  • We have an exersaucer, but i would recommend the jumperoo.
  • We have both and use both and love it.  But if I had to choose I think I would go for the jumperoo because they can jump, but DD jumps and bounces her exersaucer around too.
