Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Is there such a thing as the 4.5 month colic?

Stick out tongue

Seriously, though, this little baby will NOT stop crying! She cries in my arms for 20-30 minutes. She's not hungry, she's not wet, she's clearly exhausted, but she refuses to sleep! She won't calm down, she won't be my usually happy smiley baby, she just screams and fusses. I think it's teething. She has to be in some kind of low-grade pain all the time or something. My poor girl.

  • It's probably teething. Mine is having a tough time with his right now and it breaks my heart. I get so mad and just PRAY his tooth comes thru. Try gripe water, it seems to help him with it.

  • When DS got like that turned out he had an ear infection (only other symptom was a cough, no fever, no pulling on the ear, nothing).  It could also be teething, they can teeth on and off for months before a tooth breaks free.  Try giving her some tylenol, if she calms down after that then you know that something is hurting her.

  • Sorry, I should clarify. I *know* it's teething. She's got two teeth broke in and two more straining at the bit. It's just been going on for weeks and it's messing up the schedule I spent the first part of this month getting her on! This was mostly a  vent, and an AW about my poor napless munchkin.
  • We had an entire MONTH where she was cranky and I figured she was teething and didn't know what was wrong. Sometimes I did have to give her some pain reliever and it did help. Now we're over it and still no teeth, so I'm thinking it must have been growing pains.

  • This is both my twins right now. It's a fvcking disaster at my house. Naps have gone right to heII and the screaming between 4-630 when they get bathed and go to bed is ridiculous. I don't know how much more I can handle. It's awful and nothing seems to calm them down -- except bedtime. Well I can't really put them to bed at 4 in the afternoon. I give them Tylenol and Advil occasionally -- not sure if it makes a difference or not. I don't think they're teething, although I could be totally wrong about that. I'm clueless ... just dieing for it to get *better*.

  • that's exactly what I'm dealing with. i'm so impressed you put them down at 6:30! my husband doesn't get home until 9, usually and he likes to put her to bed.
  • My son has been really crabby too and wont sleep anywhere but in my arms.  I think its a mix of growing pains and possibly teething.  It seems like it started right after the 4 month shots. Hope she feels better!
