What they don't tell you about your mucous plug...

So I have read about my mucous plug and thought that I had lost it. I had seen plenty of snotty looking thick CM. What they don't tell you (or at least not that I saw) in these many places I read, was the consistency and texture of your mucous plug. I thought my plug was going to be a glob of thicker snot looking stuff, which I have seen PLENTY of lately. 

Today, I am certain, I ACTUALLY met my mucous plug and it was by no means thick snot. This, ladies, was Gak. Remember Gak? Nickelodeon released this stuff as a toy, or you may have made it in school using some borax and school glue. I had no idea, prior to this experience that I would literally be PULLING this stuff out of me! Why didn't I read this anywhere? Was anyone else surprised by the consistency?

    Exactly!!  It was like firm jello that I literally felt and had to pull out, too!  I also had seen many peope describe it as clear/green/yellow, but mine was dark brown.

    LOL I do remember Gak!

    The consistency was a bit like Gak, you are right. and it just kept coming and coming and coming out. I could not wipe enough!

    I believe I lost mine over a few days too, just when I thought all of it was out, I got more on the next trip to the bathroom. It was like the gift that kept giving. LOL

    I wanted Gak but my dad wouldn't get it for me! Yeah, it does have that consistency. Like goopy, sticky jello. Pretty gross. Did you save it to show your DH? I'm sure he'd be excited. ;)

    I had the same experience!  I thought I lost my MP weeks ago because I saw several globs of thick mucus-y stuff in the bottom of the toilet.  Then, last Saturday I wiped and I was like, Holy crap, THERE you are.  I'm hoping it's the same type of situation with labor...so when I'm actually in labor instead of just feeling crampy and having contractions, I'll be like, Holy crap, THIS is labor.

    I tried, but we were about to have dinner so he refused :( What a butt.

    I am doing the "Is this a contraction" dance as well. I am assuming when its finally the real deal I will get it as well. Hooray for being a first time mom!

    I like this post because I haven't lost my MP yet and I keep thinking that I lost it on one of my midnight pee runs and just didn't realize. The way you describe it it's way more obvious than that.

    yup or that it could also look like squishy gel toys that you get out of the quarter vending machines. the ones that stick to the wall.

    Dear lord,

    Please let me have my c/s on Monday before my mucous plug comes out. Semen while pregnant makes me gag because it just keeps.coming.out. and after this post, I feel the plug will be worse than that.

    This is awful but I lost mine yesterday when I was giving a urine sample at the doctor's office.  I was so excited that SOMETHING happened that I put it in a cup and took it home so I could show my hubby.
