Trying to Get Pregnant

OPK and FMU

I have been using OPKs all month, and I usually use FMU because I drink a lot of water throughout the day.  Actually, I shouldn't say I use FMU because I always wake up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom.  The last few days, when I use FMU, my result is +, but it's never + in the evening.  I haven't had a rise in my chart yet.  Could this be a false +?

Re: OPK and FMU

  • I'd always heard you aren't supposed to test with FMU.

ETA: Maybe the water is diluting the PM test too much.

  • Can you link us to your chart?

It could be a false +, it could be that your urine is diluted in the evenings. What kind of OPK are you using?

  • It's probably a true positive. I can't think of any circumstances that would cause a false positive on an OPK except certain medications (and very rarely a certain type of cyst). Whether or not it's a true surge that will result in ovulation is a different question. :)

Depends on the OPK.  CBE Digitals say to test whenever you'd like.  I got my + with FMU yesterday.

You should have at least 4 hours of undiluted urine in your bladder when you test.
