Re: ??? Weekly Check-in ???
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?A bit bummed/worried. We had his 9mo checkup this week and he's down to 5-10 percentile weight from 20 (and dropped to 80 percentile height from 95). I'm trying to give him more solids but unless it's pureed, he doesn't really chew it (and I don't think it helps that he has 0 teeth). I tried bananas in a mesh feeder during lunch today. He barely finished 2 thin slices of bananas and then he was done, pushing it away/throwing it on the ground (not because he didn't like it--he loved it while he was eating it) so I feel like he just doesn't have a very big appetite? He *loves* eating but he just doesn't eat very much and I don't want to force feed him.
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?12 mo
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week?see #2
(5) What did you do/are you planning on doing for your LO's first birthday? Party with family and friends. I've already started to buy things for his outfit/decorations/etc. I'm leaning towards a BBQ/outdoor party, but we'll see how it goes
(6) Working mamas - what's the morning routine at your house?Starts to wake up around 9:15am but snooze a bit more while nursing B, get out of bed at 9:30am, change diaper, put him in pnp while I brush my teeth/wash face/brush hair/put on contacts, Grandma arrives and takes over, I grab something to eat for breakfast in the car while driving to work. I get to work around 10am.
(7) What's your favorite part of/item in LO's nursery?Rocking chair, which we got a few month ago (should've gotten it when I was pg!)
(8) What do you do for "me" time? How do you keep things balanced in life (work, marriage, personal goals, baby, etc.)?I'm pretty much on the computer 24/7, even for "me" time. I feel like I have good balance of work (22 hrs/week) and spending time with B, cleaning/cooking/etc around the house. MH and I could use more going-out date nights(we've only had 2 so far) but we do spend 2-3 nights a week watching a movie while enjoying dessert together (and occasionally playing the wii together), which is what we used to do for fun before the baby, when B is asleep. We all eat dinner together as a family. The only thing I haven't had time/room for is swimming or any exercise, which I'm trying to figure out how to fit in right now (but looks unpromising...)
(9) What other questions would you like to see in upcoming check-ins?

1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 33w2d
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? DONE! I'm feeling done.
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? I just had my recent appointment yesterday and OB says that I'm measuring big so she wants me to get another u/s on my next appointment which I will be 36 weeks or so by then. Has anyone else had this problem and everything turn out ok???
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? Trying to get comfortable. I just feel old and that I'm aching all over. Now I'm just being a complainer, I know
I really shouldn't since it's been fairly easy up until about a few weeks ago.
(7) What's your favorite part of/item in LO's nursery? The crib, it looks so manly
And the DIY cribskirt I completed a couple weeks ago

1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 30w1d
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? I had my first pregnancy scare last night. From 11pm to 6am I had intense pain, abdominal tightening, and pelvic pressure. I can't think of when I've been more physically miserable. I went from thinking I was in PTL to thinking I had appendicitis. Turns out everything is okay. Pain finally went away. Baby looked good on US and my cervix didn't change at all. Big relief, but I have no idea what was going on. I'm hoping that I don't have a repeat performance of that unpleasantness.
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? DH and I signed up for some getting-ready-for-baby/labor/breastfeeding classes.
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? Last night was no fun.
(7) What's your favorite part of/item in LO's nursery? We still have a lot of work to do in the nursery, but so far I'm loving the rug the most.
{planning bio} {married bio} {baby blog}
I wouldn't worry. I was never told I "measured big" but my fundal height was all over the board after 30 weeks. My MWs were never worried, just said it could depend on baby's position in my uterus. Especially since I never had any other health concerns that could indicate big baby (which I actually ended up having, haha).
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?Great. I mentioned this already last week, but it's been really nice spending so much time with family. I'm getting a break (or at least, i have company while I feed, change, etc!), everyone else is super happy to play with him, and his reflux is pretty much gone now that I've changed my diet. YAY for not having to hold him upright for 15-20 min after each feed, especially in the middle of the night! I think i'm going to try stopping the zantac. also, he's been sleeping 8-9 in a row for 4 nights straight now, eating once, then up for the day between 5:30-6:30 - a bit earlier than I would like, but still a huge improvement from before! now i just need to go to bed earlier so I can take advantage of his long stretch of sleep! i think his sleep improvement is also attributable to the diet change - he's no longer waking up b/c his tummy is uncomfortable/gassy from eating hours earlier. and no big spit ups except for when I accidentally eat something I shouldn't have, and his skin is clearing up. so double, triple, quadruple YAY!(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?still just my d&c next week and his 4 month in march
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week?hrm...he's fighting naps still. and breaking free of his swaddle, no matter how tight i make it, and then it wakes him up. so especially for naps, he hates being swaddled and gets all worked up, but he doesn't sleep without it. any suggestions? maybe try the woombie?
(5) What did you do/are you planning on doing for your LO's first birthday? haven't thought that far yet...(6) Working mamas - what's the morning routine at your house?n/a
(7) What's your favorite part of/item in LO's nursery?heh, this was my question, and I don't know! maybe his dresser? it's huge and exactly what I wanted. or the walls - i love the paint i chose. or maybe the wall decals which i have yet to put up - his walls are still completely bare! oh, or the super cute giraffe rug/play mat... or the mobile i just got him the other week, which is a guaranteed 20 min break for me, hah, he LOVES that thing.
(8) What do you do for "me" time? How do you keep things balanced in life (work, marriage, personal goals, baby, etc.)?"I'm pretty much on the computer 24/7, even for "me" time." - this is me too. re marriage, MH and I seem to have important conversations in the middle of the night, since that seems to be the only time we're both awake (sometimes - oftentimes he's asleep!) and he's not working/I'm not busy with E. we're also planning to do a date night once we're back home, my dad will be there to watch E. I'm back at work in april, so we'll see how that goes...
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? Though tired at this very moment (H didn't sleep well last night), I'm feeling pretty good lately. MH has been helping a little bit more with him. And my ILs are coming for a visit this coming weekend and I'm actually really excited. I really like my ILs, and I think we'll have a good time.
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? We go in on Monday for a flu shot booster.
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? Sleep! I can't seem to figure out Henry's sleep patterns. His naps have gotten waaaay short and all over the place, and his night waking is unpredictable, too. I never thought I'd say this, but I kind of want to sleep train, but can't figure out how to be a working mama and do that.
(5) What did you do/are you planning on doing for your LO's first birthday? Don't really know yet. We're definitely having a party but it'll probably be really small (just grandparents and my sister) at our house. I originally had visions of something much bigger, but I just don't see the point in stressing out planning an event for someone who won't even remember it. Besides, we don't have much family in the area, and we don't have many friends with kids, either.
(6) Working mamas - what's the morning routine at your house? It varies (my work start time is different two days of the week, and MH's is different every day). But typically, I get up and shower, hoping that Henry will sleep a little longer (if he doesn't, he goes in the bouncy seat in the bathroom while I get ready). If MH is up and hasn't left for work yet, he'll help with feeding and getting Henry dressed while I eat breakfast, otherwise I do it and eat when I get to work (which I hate!). Usually I drop off at daycare.(7) What's your favorite part of/item in LO's nursery? Probably the glider rocker. We went all out on it and got by far my favorite one we found. Sooooo worth it!
(8) What do you do for "me" time? How do you keep things balanced in life (work, marriage, personal goals, baby, etc.)? Um, I don't? Seriously, I am working on this. Right now I feel like my life is all work and baby. MH and I did go out for the first time recently are really trying hard to set aside time together when we can. It's so hard, though, with him working every other weekend, and many evenings. But we work so much better as a team when we communicate and spend time together, so we need to try to do that more. As far as "me" time goes.....well, that doesn't really happen much. On weekends when Henry naps I can sometime get a half hour or hour to myself to read and relax. I also love to cook, so when I can get a chance to do that it feels like "me" time.
(9) What other questions would you like to see in upcoming check-ins?
(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 15+ months
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? We're both doing pretty well. We bought outside shoes over the weekend and took him outside - that was a blast to watch him discover walking up/down hills, falling on concrete - ouch!, etc. He had a great time. I'm still going strong on WW.
He's learning how to do some more signs, but usually only does them when prompted - bye, milk, hat, please.
(3) Next appointment date? 15 month appt
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? whining and yelling
(5) What did you do/are you planning on doing for your LO's first birthday? We rented out the clubhouse at my complex and had family and friends come. Got fruit/veg/deli trays/cake/snacks from BJs, some balloons and decorating paper products.
(6) Working mamas - what's the morning routine at your house? I get up with LB when he wakes me up (usu ~ 730), and I change his diapers and feed him bfast. Then we go wake MH up so he can take over while I get ready and go to work.
(7) What's your favorite part of/item in LO's nursery? The wall that MH painted
(8) What do you do for "me" time? How do you keep things balanced in life (work, marriage, personal goals, baby, etc.)? I'm terrible at this. I do any me things at work - look up stuff online, etc.
HA! I so remember this feeling! Hang in there, and just remember the LO is MUCH easier to take care of while on the inside!
I was measuring big too, but they didn't seem worried about it. He came out 7lbs, 15 oz.
This is a scary thought!

(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO?
15 months 5 days
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?
we're on our first real family vacation right now
our trick of choosing the window + aisle seat worked and while there were only a handful of empty seats on our flight, we got to keep the middle one empty so we had the whole row to ourselves. she was great but i had trouble getting her to nap. finally had to put her in the carrier and stand in the aisle until she fell asleep.
she went to the beach for the 1st time this week! it was really cute to see her reaction
she initially just started throwing the sand everywhere, esp over her shoulder... then she started to play w/it. didn't try to eat the sand initially, just the seaweed on the beach...but on day 2 she tried to eat it and then cried b/c she didn't like the taste and couldn't get it out of her mouth LOL she LOVES the ocean! i first let her stand in the sand and let the water run up to her feet and she smiled and giggled when the water hit her! it was so cute
she stood there and kept saying "more more." then i took her into the water and i went about waist deep while holding her on my hip... she had a blast with the waves crashing into us.
we're not at home so I don't have my file w/me where I keep track of her firsts but since she's been here she has said "shovel," "PJs," and "sheep" (in Vietnamese). she also had her 5th tooth start to come in, one of her 2nd incisors.
not a milestone but i have to say that for some reason whenever we travel she doesn't poop in the morning like she usually does so she lets me worry throughout the entire flight that she's going to poop LOL but she didn't poop for almost 48 hrs and once she finally did it was HUGE. let me just say that it filled the entire bottom part of the toilet up (the divot at the bottom) and it filled up the top part of the toilet!!! i am just SO glad it was in the toilet and not in a diaper!
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?
she has her 15 month appt on Monday and will her her reg. shots then as well as the chicken pox vaccine
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week?
just traveling with her by plane... 3 hrs is about her limit before she starts fussing and our flight was 4 hrs. she did great though once i was able to convince her that she needed to nap
her normal nap time is 2:30pm and by the time she finally fell asleep on the plane it was 4:45pm our time...but overall she is a really good traveler and everyone on the plane was surprised at how good she was. oh and there was a 2 yr old sitting behind us and she kept peering over the seat at him and calling him a "baby" - he wasn't too happy about that and kept saying "no!" :P
(5) What did you do/are you planning on doing for your LO's first birthday?
I initially wanted to do something big but in the end I'm glad I didn't. we don't have much family around and don't have a lot of friends in the area either so I just had a party at our house. both sets of grandparents flew out for thanksgiving to see her so we did it around then too. I only wish it hadn't been around thanksgiving b/c then i would have had more time to do a few more things for her (like make her a nice cake). but I just got paper products/decorations from diapers.com and my mom and I took care of all the food.
(6) Working mamas - what's the morning routine at your house?
I just answered this in Ericka's post
(7) What's your favorite part of/item in LO's nursery?
the mural I painted on the wall
(8) What do you do for "me" time? How do you keep things balanced in life (work, marriage, personal goals, baby, etc.)?
my "me time" mostly consists of me being on the computer/online doing emails, chatting, being here, etc. after she goes to bed at night. sometimes I get on while she is napping too but often I'm trying to catch up on other things like cooking, laundry, etc. I do also consider the baking I do to be me time as well, but it's hard to get stuff done these days! I totally feel like I am lagging on my blog and would have more readers if I had more time to dedicate to blogging (I'm only posting about once/wk now!). as it is, though, I get a nice small chunk of $ from the advertising that is on it that helps pay for all the baking supplies I need

i was measuring big too & they made me take some extra u/s just to make sure I wasn't having "super mega baby" (dr's term, not mine). They said I wasn't having "super mega baby", but I was having a big baby. Yea...they were wrong. She was 7 even!
(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 10 months old in 3 days
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? They're both thisclose to walking. I'm both excited and mildly dreading the next stage of mobility lol.
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? Getting their tongue ties snipped next month.
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? Both boys coming down with a cold. It's day 5 and nearly gone now (both have boogery noses and lingering coughs though). Taking care of a sick, upset baby is just so hard...I think it will be a little easier once I can explain to them why they feel so rotten.
(5) What did you do/are you planning on doing for your LO's first birthday? I'm sure 90% of the Bump would be horrified because first birthdays seem to be a big deal on most of the boards, but...not much. We don't live near anything fun (like a zoo) so it's just going to be a BBQ at home with family and close friends. There will probably only be like 12 people invited lol! Some cake, some balloons, and that's about it. No intricate decorations or pro photogs or anything like that. Kids don't know what's going on at that age...first birthdays are really more about the parents than the kids.
(6) Working mamas - what's the morning routine at your house? The boys get up at 7am. Ben and I both change and dress them. He gives them their bottles while I prepare their solids. While they eat those, Ben goes off to get ready for work. Then we tag team and he watches/plays with them while I get ready. We drop them off at daycare on the way and that's it.
(7) What's your favorite part of/item in LO's nursery? Hmm. Probably the rocking chair that I got for free from a friend and gave a facelift. It's comfy, and I can easily use it somewhere else in the house after we remove it from the boys' room.
(8) What do you do for "me" time? How do you keep things balanced in life (work, marriage, personal goals, baby, etc.)? This was my question, and I'm looking forward to reading everyone elses' replies! I asked this because it's something I'm not very good at. I have the baby, work and marriage balances down fine, but when it comes to "me" time? Not so much. That's the first thing to go, and I don't think that's necessarily healthy.
Part of it is that in a way I've been loathe to give up the time I spend with them in favor of doing something by myself. I know that might seem weird, but it's true. And it's not just because I treasure that time...it's also because, in some strange way, I feel like in order to be a good mother I HAVE to spend every possible moment with them even if it means sacrificing all of my "me" stuff. Of course this isn't true, and when I figured that out I realized I was skating dangerously close to mommy martyr territory.
Lately I've been trying hard to relinquish that a bit. Like yesterday, I asked MIL to watch them for a few hours while I went to get my hair cut and had coffee with a friend. And you know what? It was great! I felt awesome afterward...so refreshed! MIL is a very willing babysitter, so I think I'll have to do that more often, even if it's only a day or two a month.
I know how you feel. I can count on (less than) one hand the number of times I've been away from LO (and yes, it's only been 3 months, but still - 3 months!). And once was like, a 15 min excursion to go to the pharmacy to pick up some meds for him. All my "me" time happens at night, after he's asleep (remember, my "me" time so far only consists of me and a computer - like now!). I know I should eventually actually go out and do something. I'm trying to more and more...I put him down for the night and went out to dinner with a friend! It's a start! ...I can only think of one time when I've left him during the day. MH was so happy when I got home, and I was gone for less than 3 hours, haha.
I'm glad I'm not alone!
I'm like you - any me time tends to be computer time as well, and I think I need to expand my horizons lol! It's gotten easier as they've gotten older and seem a bit less fragile and needy (not in a bad way, just that they need you), but it's still something I struggle with.
I think part of it is because it's how I was raised. My brother and sister and I were everything to our mother. Which sounds lovely (and she's a GREAT mom) but I think it was actually somewhat unhealthy for her. She is one of those people that had no interests outside of her kids; she didn't do any activities that didn't involve us (EVERYTHING was a family activity), and on more than one occasion I can remember her commenting negatively about couples - and mothers in particular - who "steal time from their kids to go do their own thing," as though they were absurdly selfish for wanting not to be around their children 24/7.
I think she viewed her actions as proof of being a committed mother, but it meant that she was left flailing a bit when we left home. She still had work, but she didn't have any activities or hobbies that were hers and hers alone. Even now, I don't think she does much other than a weekly Bible study. I know she has some income restraints, but I do wish she could find something special that is hers - that she could see how enjoyable it is.
Anyway, the point of all of that is that I feel actively guilty if I "steal" time from Will and Dash to do a me activity, even if it's just an hour to go have a child-free lunch with a friend. I know intellectually that it doesn't make me a bad mother, but the guilt is still something I struggle with.
Inamra, can you just list Adair's first name (delete middle name) on the list of babies? I guess since her name isn't very common this board is the first thing that comes up when you google her name.
Thank you!
Done
(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO?
1 year and 3 weeks old
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?
Exhausted due to 2-3 night wakings each night. She's cutting her 1 year old molars which makes her more wakeful. Tylenol before bedtime helps, but it wears off in 4 hours and she wakes.
And she's walking like a champ these days...it's truly how amazing how fast the development goes with things like these....I have no doubts that up next will be running and climbing!
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?
She just had her 1 year pedi appt. last week and got her shots. Next one will be at 15 months.
We have our first official playdate tomorrow...with a baby that is 2 months younger than Libby. We're going to the aquarium. We're also meeting with our photog in the morning to snap some "urban baby" pics downtown...
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week?
Night wakings...
(5) What did you do/are you planning on doing for your LO's first birthday?
We had a bumblee bee themed party at a local Kindermusik studio
(6) Working mamas - what's the morning routine at your house?
4:30/5 a.m. - Nurse Libby and get her back to sleep (she sleeps until 8:30/9 a.m. and then my mom and/or DH get up with her for the day)
5:30 a.m.- 6:30 a.m. - Feed/Potty the pets; shower, dress, do make-up/hair, eat breakfast, check personal e-mail/weather/news online
6:40 a.m. - Pack up pump/parts and snacks/food for the day
6:45 a.m. - Depart for work
(7) What's your favorite part of/item in LO's nursery?
Cannot live without our swivel/rocker/recliner
But I love how the decorative elements came together...the wall decals and the bird/branch installation I DIY'd. Oh and the daybed...comes in SO handy for guests and those night wakings. Also great for hanging out on, reading books, snuggling, etc.
(8) What do you do for "me" time? How do you keep things balanced in life (work, marriage, personal goals, baby, etc.)?
Don't have too much balance, really. My days are pretty much work + baby. Now that she's going to bed around 7 p.m. I find that I do have more "me" time from 7-9 p.m. (when I try to hit the hay) and spend that time reading, surfing online, catching up with friends/family on the phone, etc. I have considered taking an evening yoga class or something (get Libby down and then my mom will stay with her) but so far I am just too exhausted to consider it. DH and I are trying our best to do a date night once a month and I hope to be able to see the new girlfriends I've made recently on a more regular basis. They're all mommies though and super busy, so it's tough to coordinate!
(9) What other questions would you like to see in upcoming check-ins?
TTCers: Which cycle are you on? Where in the cycle are you? What, if anything, are you doing/trying for TTC success? Just finished PPAF #2 and charting CM on FF. Might add in BBT come May, but only if I am getting uninterrupted sleep at night. Otherwise, I'll just use the CBEFM.

I am in this camp with you two...maybe we should go bowling?
I need to develop some hobbies...and make some friends. I've made a few friends (finally) but they are all mommies and finding time together is a challenge. Also, as a working mom, I only get 3 hours/day with Libby and one hour of that is the whole dinner-clean up-bath-book-get ready for bed routine. So during the week, especially, any "me" time activities have to come once she's in bed. Lately, on the weekends, I'll get up early (since she wakes at the same time each day and so do the pets) and have 3-4 unterrupted hours to myself. I love it! Then I can usually nap when she does in the afternoon. Sometimes I'll go get coffee and do some shopping or just hang out at home, take a nice long bath, read a magazine or work on my photos (uploading and editing), etc. But this has only been in the recent past...I think a lot of it has to do with babyhood...they just NEED their mama so much more.

I'd be up for that - I'm like you, I need more IRL friends. Wanna move to Australia?
And I do agree, getting "me" time seems to be a little easier now that the kids are older. I think a lot of it is simply because they can go so much longer without needing a feeding - when you're on a 3-hour routine, you can't escape very far for very long!
muchas gracias!
