not the greatest follie check today

Went in for my first follie check and there are only 4 follies measuring over 10mm (they don't measure under). One is 13, two are 12 and one is 11. There are 6 that are less than 10mm, but I have no idea if they will grow enough to catch up. I know my age is the biggest thing working against me - 37, almost 38 is not so great for responding.

They want me to stay on the same protocol (meds and dosage) and then I go back in on Friday for another check. Hopefully, things will look a little better then. I also have acupuncture tomorrow, so hopefully that will help.

I am upset, but trying to stay positive. This is our one and only shot at IVF, so I was hoping it would be a good one. Guess we'll see what Friday brings. Please send some follie growing vibes my way - I really need them!!!

Today is day 6, but I had the appt early this am, an hour after my follistim, so I guess it was after 5 days of stims.

Part of it is that I had 3 good follies on my injects + TI cycle in December and my meds are so much higher for IVF - I thought I would see alot better. I know the lupron is suppressing me, but I am on 300 iu's of follistim and 150 iu's of menopur.

I am really hoping that you are right and things will be great on Friday!!!

For your first check that's great. How is your E2 level? For my first check I only had 2 over 12 (my RE doesn't measure anything under 12). They were talking about converting to an IUI and I was devastated, but the littler ones grew. *big hugs* I hope you get a great report on Friday.

I forgot to ask for my E2 level when they called. I was in the middle of something at work and I took the call, but forgot about my b/w, I was more concerned with the follies. I guess I could call to check tomorrow.

That's a relief that you didn't have a ton at your first appt. Did they change your med dose or anything? How many days did you stim? The nurse did say "things are moving in the right direction", but I can't help but be nervous. I keep telling myself - think positive thoughts, think positive thoughts!!

They actually had to lower my dose because my E2 was 690 (there is a patient portal so I can look back at all of my lab results). I did 9 days of stims and triggered on the 10th day. And I really enjoy acupuncture- I found it calmed down a lot AND helped with the bloating. Try not to be nervous, I totally get it because I totally was but as my husband says (and trust me I want to shake him whenever he says it) "Let's not worry until there is nothing to worry about" and it's true. I hope the acupuncture gives you a sense of calm AND BIG follies.

Thanks Amy. I know, I shouldn't worry until I need to. I am hoping the acupuncture will help too.

My RE has a log in on their site, but they have never given me a code or log in, so I am not sure they even use it. They have never mentioned it, I guess I should ask about it.

How are you feeling? I see in your siggy that your beta is tomorrow - I thought it was today, I guess I was off by one. I hope it is nice and high!!!

I agree with Amy and Tara, that's actually a good first check. 4 at 10+ with 6 more that might catch up is good. I didn't have many over 10 at my first check either. Hope the little ones do some catching up!

Try to stay positive. I have seen low numbers too, but it can be amazing how fast the follies can grow. Thinking of you.

I think things sound good so far. I'm pretty sure my RE told me that the follies will start to grow faster as you progress so I bet things look great on Friday. Good luck!

Thanks ladies - you always make me feel better.

I did call today and get my E2 level from yesterday - it was 286. I am hoping for much better results tomorrow. I had my acupuncture appt. today and hope that it will help get those follies going!!
