6 week olds sleep habits

I feel like a newb of a mom bc of how crazy different L is from H.

How long or how much sleep did your infant get when they were around this age? I am lucky if L sleeps a total of 12 hours a day. It is exhausting for everyone. He gets so tired, but will do whatever he can to keep himself up. I am just at a loss on what to do for him or how to hep him sleep better.

What is with these 1-4-11 babies!?!?!? Stick out tongue DD sleeps really well at night, but during the day she naps 45 min at most. Most of the time it's 20 min here and there. I'm very grateful for how well she does at night, but holy cow, I cannot figure her out during the day.

I think part of our problem is that she gets so overtired that then she won't go to sleep. The only thing that has helped us is the swaddle blanket. Other than that I don't have any good advice for you. I'm sorry! I hope he starts sleeping better soon! Did you talk to the pedi about trying to switch reflux meds?

I'm in the exact same boat, and she was born on 1-4-11! Kendall sleeps great at night, but cat naps all day. I use the BABY ESP app on my Android and it shows that she averages 13 hours of total sleep in a 24 hour period. You should see me during her cat naps - I run around the house like a crazy person getting things done that I can't do when she's awake!

Does he like to be swaddled? What about sleeping in a swing or bouncer? I know those aren't long term solutions but sometimes you have to do what you have to do in order to get some sleep.

I feel for you ladies, but I'm glad I'm not the only one dealing with it! It's nice not to be alone

J--ha! I know it! Ya know though, we went into labor when there was a full moon! Maybe we were cursed from the beginning! hehe! He does sleep a 5 hour stretch at night (or at least he did the past 2 nights!), but that's the best we get out of him. For a few days last week he was taking a 2-3 hour nap, and I guess decided that just wasn't for him. I haven't called the pedi yet.

BriAnna--I'll have to check out that app! I'm usually chasing a toddler when he does nap!

E--The kid is strange, he's hit and miss with swaddling. Sometimes he will instantly close his eyes, others he will get pissed and cry while he tries to break out! We use the bouncer since it vibrates and he actually has to sleep in it at night bc his sinuses get so backed up it just drains so we keep him at the incline. He only cat naps in the swing too.
