Anyone else have feet that look like these?

image

I kind of want to cut them off.  Nothing helps - not water, walking, nettle pills.  Rest helps some but it's not like I can stay home all day.

  • Oh my goodness!  What has your doctor said?  Are you showing any signs of pre-eclempsia?

I hope you find some relief!

  • Oh no, J! I'm so sorry and you have to commute with those feet (!).

What has your doc said about that, and when is your last day at work? Can you work from home to keep your feet up?

Nope, blood pressure is great, not spilling protein, no headaches or vision changes.  Apparently some people just swell up.

My last day of work is not until April 1 - 3 days before my due date.  I am contemplating working from home when I have no client meetings but that won't be too many days since I'm trying to see everyone before I go on leave.  It's also boring to be home alone!  I have been ordered to take it easy but it's hard for me to really do.  I'm trying on the weekends.

    How are you feeling yourself?

  • You poor thing! Mine are swollen, but nothing like yours. My midwife said Emergen-C would help because the water soluble C and B vitamins would pull some of the fluid out of there. You might try it? I hope they go right back to normal after LO is born!
  • Ouch!! You poor thing!! Sad

My friend (who had pre-e) swelled up like this towards the end of her pregnancy and she wore compression socks. She swears by them . Maybe you should look into a pair or two of these to help you out a little? For now, a nice soak in warm water with epsom salt should help you feel better.

  • My friend who's due April 3rd has similar swelling, her feet and hands are all puffy yet her BP and everything else are fine. Her Dr told her to put her feet up every day when she gets home from work and on her days off. She says it helps a little, but they still have no idea what is causing it.

I'm feeling pretty well with the exception of some evening BH contractions that are pretty painful and starting to feel a bit debilitating. My doc doesn't like this one bit and has given me the serious talk/scold about working from home starting in early March. I think I may be able to pull that off with work. We'll see.

  • Ow ow ow! I had a few days like that a while ago, but I learned if I wear socks and supportive shoes (tie up shoes like sneakers, no slip on shoes or flip flops) it keeps the swelling down. It took a few days in a row of basically wearing my socks and shoes all day, but they did go down.

Good luck to you. I hope you don't have to live with them like that for the next 7 weeks. :(

  • Can you put your feet up at work? I have a stool under my desk to put my feet up.

  • Jeeze that looks incredibly uncomfortable!

I keep my feet up whenever I remember at work with a stool that I keep under my desk. I don't know how much it would help though.

  • Emergen-C and Epsom salts are new ideas and I will definitely try that.  I have been resisting the compression hose but maybe it's time to order some :(

  • My feet looked like that with DS#1 or at least close to it. I had pitted edema (when you push down on the swollen area and it stays indented. Looks like yours would do that) and it was horrible. Like you, I never had any blood pressure problems or any other complications. Although, they did have me  monitor my BP on my own to make sure it was OK if I even felt the least bit headachey, dizzy, anything. But, I never had any trouble with it, I was just super swollen. I am soo sorry. I know how uncomfortable it is. Are they sore?? Mine were so sore from all the stretching. Putting them up always helped some, but it never really helped a whole lot.

Again, I am sorry! On a side note, this might be something positive to think about. I am not at all swollen (yet :) this pregnancy. So, maybe there is hope for the next time :)

  • Can you try putting your feet up on the wall (up above your chest) for awhile?

  • Oh wow - that looks painful  :(

I'm not having any swelling yet - kind of hoping it doesn't happen.

I hope you are able to find some relief soon!

  • Omg  I will stop complaining about the little biti of swelling around my ankles...that looks so PAINFUL how on earth are you walking?  I have been wearing TED hose while at work- not sue if that or some other support hose would help at this point for you but maybe worth a try?
  • I know - right? I will bookmark this page and just stop my whining now. Holy cow, that poor girl! Ow ow ow!!!!
