I've been reading alot on buying travel systems vs buy car seat and strollers separate. What does anyone think is best?
I don't really like the travel system because most of the strollers are very bulky and living in Boston taking the T and walking around alot it will be problem. But if I buy separate, any suggestions on strollers that I can use from newborn to when they grow older?
Finding car seat is a little easier, I found ones that are convertible from newborn to up to 65lbs and I tend to like products that are convertible, it's more economical and stay within a good budget for baby products. but any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!
Re: Need help with travel systems or buy separate??
You don't know how hard handicapped people have it until you have a stroller with you!But it's good that you are thinking about some of the challenges before buying a stroller.
If you're looking for sth you can use a while and that isn't bulky you may like the Chicco Trevy- it goes with the Chicco Keyfit 30 Car Seat. You may also like this one:

We bought the Chicco Cortina travel system and have only used the actual stroller 2 or 3 times so far.
A friend loaned us their Baby Trend Snap n go frame and we used that ALL the time with our car seat carrier (Chicco Key Fit). The frame was significantly more compact when folded than the Cortina stroller and that made it easier to tote around. I definitely loved having the car seat carrier (esp the first few months) because I could take her in and out of the car without waking her up.
We also recieved a Zooper Twist as a shower gift and love that. It folds up pretty compactly and is pretty easy to use. The Twist does not work with a car seat carrier but I know that Zooper has another model that does.
I also registered and recieved the Chicco Cortina travel system, as well as the Snap 'n Go by BabyTrend. I have since also purchased the Chicco Liteway stroller. If I had to do this over again, I wouldn't have registered for the travel system. I would absolutely register for the Snap 'n Go (or a similar version by Graco depending on what car seat you get)- you'll love it and you can use it for quite a while. I would also recommend a stroller similar to the Chicco Liteway...similar to an umbrella stroller but with a little more to offer- you can start using this pretty early on if your infant gets sick of the snap n' go. Then, lastly, I would have registered for a nice all-terrain/jogger stroller for smooth walks on sidewalks.
Good luck!
