Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Do you feel like your life has changed drastically?

I think I expected way more of a change in our lives after having our son.  I feel like he fits into our lifestyle so perfectly I can't even remember what it's like without him.  My husband and I are big homebodies who always went to bed early and never slept in.  He is also a very easygoing baby.  The only thing my husband and I really miss is going to Atlantic City at least once every few months.  We're slot addicts.

LOLZ...maybe you could find someone you trust and take a little break and go down and have fun.  We do this sometimes.

I was just going to comment that my bump life has changed drastically in the past week.  This is the "toned-down" Avid.  I hate burning bridges, so this is the best alternative...boring Avid.  There, I said it.

  • I would say our lives changed pretty drastically but I'm okay with it- more than ok with it!  I can tell DH misses "the old days" sometimes.  We ALWAYS went out every Friday night and sometimes Saturdays as well.  Staying in on the weekends and watching a movie was not our thing.  I was ready to be done with it, but DH still likes to get out now and again.  I try to be conscious of this and surprise him with a babysitter every so often so we can get out.

  • Other than paying for daycare, our lives haven't changed drastically at all. LO was a really great addition, and is an easy baby. Thanks to family in the area, DH & I still get to go out,  have hobbies outside the home, etc.

  • Yes! We used to just go out randomly to restaurants, drinking, etc late at night. Its the lifestyle of NYC I think. We don't have any family here so we never go to movies, bars, concerts, museums, restaurants... Its not worth paying 100$ for a babysitter to go to the freaken movies. There isn't much baby friendly stuff here. I was bored of going out anyway. I'd been a partier since I was a teen so I got my fill. Last weekend though, a new dumpling place opened around the corner & we wanted to go check it out, but alas our son was asleep so my husband went and got take out instead of me going too and getting to see the decor/atmosphere. I want to move so I can live a more normal family life. There are so many stores I can't go in w/ a stroller. I have a carrier but I have to walk everywhere so I don't want to go too far because my back will hurt w/ my 22lb baby! The problem to me is the place not the baby though.

  • The only thing I miss is randomly going into the city for dinner with my gfs.  I still do it, but it takes a lot more planning now, which isn't really an issue.  I guess it's the spontaneity I miss even if we didn't always take advantage of it.

Otherwise, she fits in pretty well and I think we see my family even more because of her, which I enjoy.

  • Not drastically, no.  I was a SAHW before she was born, (long story) so I was already used to being at home.  The house was definitely a lot cleaner back then though! lol!  We were also homebodies.

I do miss the independence of being able to just jump in the car and go to the movies or for a late night drive. But, not to be corny, she MORE than makes up for it. She is so much fun!
