Austin Babies

And the diagnosis is...

Strep.  I didn't have any of the characteristic signs according to the doctor, but they ran the test anyway.  And it was positive.  Yay for drugs to knock this sucker out.  Hoping that I don't pass it to the boys.

And it was funny to hear my OB chew out the nurse outside my door for me being there for a throat culture.  But he was just as charming as could be when he was in the room with me and all "So glad you are here.  I'm glad to help.  Call us anytime".

I went to the OB because my primary care doctor stopped practicing, and my OB's NP who does GP stuff is on vacation, so the office just booked me to see the OB.

  • Jakob and I always get strept throat and the only symptoms are a sore throat and fever.  Sometimes, Jakob starts throwing up but I've never had that.

We usually feel fine the day after starting antibiotics so hopefully you'll feel better soon!

I've only had strep once (knock on wood) and I felt like I was swallowing shards of glass. :/

Boo for strep, but yay for a diagnosis.  I would've been so tempted to say "gosh, I'm glad you said that because I was thinking you were annoyed after what I heard you say to the nurse."  Or at least that's what my inside, tough awesome Katie would've WANTED to say, but never would have the nerve on the outside. =)

  • I'm glad you got a diagnosis and hope the meds will work quickly. So funny about him chewing out the nurse! They always told me I could come in for that kind of thing since I was bf'ing. Of course that was before they specifically designated an NP to do the GP stuff.
