Do you love your Ergo? I have a Moby which was just too much fabric for my area, way too hot here for that. Also I have a Baby Bjorn, but everytime I see the Ergo it makes me want one. I like the fact that you can use it for a while and put the child on your back...give me your thoughts ladies! Thanks!

I didn't have one for #1, but I definitely want one for #2. So I was just waiting for a good deal. I also had a Bjorn and didn't love it, but DS liked being carried. Once he got a few pounds on him though it was just too uncomfortable for me for any amount of time. I wish I had gone ahead and gotten an Ergo then, but I didn't know much about them at the time so I didn't. I think we'll use the snot out of the Ergo.
I'm also considering a Moby but am not sure due to the heat factor. I also have a mei tai style carrier but I haven't tried it yet on a real baby.
If it does get pretty warm where you are I wouldn't get the Moby. Maybe during the winter it won't be so bad, but I had DS in February so going into summer it was so hot and it wasn't fun to have all that fabric around you plus the body heat from the baby.
I think I will be getting the Ergo for sure!
That's what I was thinking. I think most people just use the Moby for newborns, and it is still blazing hot here in Sept/Oct. So I don't think I'd get much use out of it. Hopefully I like my mei tai, if not I might learn how to do some other wrap. Or just use the Ergo with a newborn insert. Either way, I think I'm going to love the Ergo. I hope you do too!
I bought a mei tai a few months ago and I love it. I'm using it with DD now (she's about 19 lbs) and plan to use it with the next baby from the start. I can see that is might be a little warm, but it's definitely cooler than a Moby because you don't have yards of fabric wrapped around you. I haven't tried a back carry yet, but will be soon since the belly won't accommodate a front carry much longer!

I LOVE my Ergo!
I went through a LOT of carriers. At first we had a sling and a Baby Bjorn Air. I hated the sling from the get-go -- I never felt like DS was safe and secure. I actually liked the Baby Bjorn, but only until DS was around 15 lbs...then it killed my back after about 15 minutes.
Got the Moby when he was around 6 weeks and loved that as well...but only until 4ish months. Then he was just too heavy and it sagged. And yes, it's HOT. Not ideal for south Georgia anytime except for winter.
I didn't discover the Ergo until he was almost 6 months old....and oh my, I so wish we had it sooner! I LOVE IT. It's so comfortable, both for me and for DS. I could carry him for hours and it never bothered my back. I haven't used it recently, but I'm sure I could still carry him easily.
It's still hot, though. Any carrier will be at least a little hot, because you've got a little heat producing machine pressed up against your body. But it was far better than the Moby, that's for sure!
I LOVE my Ergo, but I didn't start loving it until LO was a bit bigger... closer to the 6 month range. The infant insert doesn't really work all that great (well maybe it would if you had a bigger baby... my peanut still like slipped through). It seems like the Moby is really the way to go when they're brand new babes. Now that LO is a toddler, I get pretty much daily use out of it.
But, if I knew about it, I would've gotten a Pikkilo. It's basically an Ergo that allows you to carry front facing, as well as facing you, back, and hip. My friend has one and I've always been jealous of it. It comes in cuter fabrics too.

I LOVE my Ergo.
With DD we had a hand-me down Bjorn that was fine. I used frequently, but we just outgrew her being able to hang off my front around her turning 1. With DS I found the hand-me down Bjorn had bit the dust, so I quickly decided on an Ergo as the replacement. It has been great and I'm still using it.
Pros:
1. I can carry either child in it (DD is still under 40 lbs and it is much better than her giving me a choke hold with a traditional piggy back ride).
2. Find it very easy to switch and adjust between DH and me
3. DS seemed more comfortable in it than the few times he rode in the Bjorn
4. Much easier on my back for extended baby wearing (such as a trip to Disney)
5. On aforementioned trip to Disney, I could modestly NIP by flipping up the hood while in line or walking around, so we didn't have to keep stopping (didn't typically do this, but very much appreciated it at the time)
Cons:
1. Price
2. Very hot in a FL summer. Little babies are furnaces as is and that fabric can get warm....sport version might be better about this, but with the regular one I end up with a drenched stomach or back.
