I have no clue how to get DD to go down for a nap without her swing during the day. She usually goes down for 2-3 naps during the day depending on how long the nap/awake time lasts (I try to put her down after no more than 1-2 hrs awake time, watching for sleepy signals, etc). So.... usually it goes nap, feed, play, down for another nap.
Unfortunately I've been relying on the swing to put her to sleep. Starting around 5 weeks or so she wouldn't sleep anywhere else, so I just got into the habit. She'll sit in it awake for about 5-10 mins and then falls asleep. She just seems so "awake" at that time, but I know she needs to go down due to the tired signs. She would generally doze off while BFing, but I don't know if I should be relying on that either... I have to come up with a new method as we're off to Mexico for a week next week and the swing is not coming with us (also I'd like to break this habit!)
How do you put LO down for a nap?

See siggy links under Sleep Help for posts I wrote about this exact topic.
We just swaddle DS, put music and a fan on, and offer a paci. He falls asleep on his own.

If we're at home, I'll swaddle him, closed the blinds, turn on sound machine and either read to him or rock him until he's half asleep, then I put him down in his crib.
If we're out and about he'll usually put himself to sleep in his stroller or car seat.
Have a great trip!
