Jeremiah Jr. was born February 11, 2011 at 3:40am. 7lb2oz, 21 inches long.
I was induced early Thursday morning due to early symptoms of Pre-e. I was preparing for a med-free birth, however after 13 hours of hard labor with Pitocin and only progressing to 3 centimeters (barely), I decided I couldn't take it anymore! Throughout the day the baby had to be continuously monitored due to a bad reaction to the Pitocin. After the 13 hours I decided to get an epi. That was around 10pm. They took me off of the Pitocin because Jeremiah was not handling both the epi and Pitocin. I was finally able to relax and quickly fell asleep.
Around 12am I woke up with an urge to push. I ignored it and went back to sleep, I was so exhausted. 15 minutes later the urge to push was too much to handle so my mom woke up my husband and we called the midwife and nurse. They checked me and I had dialated to 10 centimeters! 2 hours with an epi and no Pitocin was all it took!
I pushed for 3 hours with no success. His head was stuck in my pelvic canal. The midwife quickly left the room and brought in the on-call OB. We quickly discussed my options of using a vacuum and if that didn't work we would be rushed to OR for an emergency c-section. I agreed to the vacuum as I wanted a vaginal birth. The OB said she would give me 3 pushes with the vacuum and if it didn't work I'd have to go to the OR. After 3 pushes my Jeremiah made his arrival!! The emotions that came over me were overwhelming.
I was able to hold him on my chest for a few seconds before they had to quickly take him to evaluate him. His head was a little swollen and he had injested quite a bit of meconium throughout the day after my water broke. Everything turned out fine and he is a healthy boy.
We had a difficult time with breastfeeding the first few days, but we are working together and things are all well now! He is peeing, pooping, sleeping, and eating as much as he is supposed to. My husband and I couldn't be happier!!!! I'm so in love with him, can't stop staring at him.
ps
I'd post a picture but I've never figured that out. So if anyone wants to let me know I'll go ahead and try it. Hope you all have healthy and safe deliveries and enjoy every moment with your precious little ones.
