I have been trying to find information on how much weight women should gain each month of pregnancy and I can't find anything that really outlines it like that. I know women should gain between 25-35 lbs during the entire pregnancy. However, at 18 weeks I have already gained 18 pounds!!! It is weird because I think most of it is around my belly. I look really pregnant (and No, I am not carrying twins). I have been showing since I was 8 weeks. If I keep gaining weight at the rate I have been, I'm going to get HUGE!
I started out at 134 lbs and am 5'8" so I am normal weight. I have not changed my eating habits and I do walk for a half hour each day. Is anyone else experiencing this?! My doctor told me everyone is different but that average is about 4 pounds of weight gain by this point in pregnancy. Help me.
Re: Am I gaining way too much weight?
Someone posted this last week: https://www.indiacurry.com/women/pregcalc.htm
But it sounds like your exercising, you're not overweight and your dr isn't concerned, so I wouldn't worry about it.
someone posted this calculator the other day. Obviously don't take it as a be all/end all thing, but it is cool as a basic guideline.

I don't think the average is 4lbs by 18 weeks though...I think my baby books said 8-10 by 20 weeks. 4lbs is average for 1st tri gain.
2 years, 2 surgeries, 2 clomid fails, 2 IUIs, 1 loss, IVF #1 - 10/25/10 = BFP!, DS is now 3.5yrs!
TTC #2 - 6/12 surgery #3, FET #1 & 1.2 = BFN, 12/2012 FET #2 = BFP! DD is 1.5 yrs!
Surprise! 12/16/14 BFP, loss #2 12/31/14
I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929
Did your doctor tell you it was too much? Or is it more that you feel it is too much?
Are you constantly eating? Good food? Or lots of "treats"? Exercising? Any morning sickness/nausea?
I like this calculator for weight gain-

4 lbs at 18 weeks?! I'm up 10lbs at 17 weeks and no one at my OB's office has said anything to me about it. If your Dr thinks you're ok, don't worry about it too much. Someone posted this link last week to help find what the average weight should be:
https://www.indiacurry.com/women/pregcalc.htm
ETA: Haha, I'm such a slow poster! But yeah, my weight is above the "max" on the chart and I'm not really concerned.
After 3 failed Clomid+TI cycles, DD was conceived with IUI#1
TTC #2
Clomid 50 mg + IUI#1 = BFP, m/c and D&C at 7w1d
Clomid 50mg + IUI#2 = BFN
Clomid 100mg + IUI#3 = BFN
Lupron + Follistim + IVF#1 = 11ER, 10M, 10F, ET of 1 expanded BBA 5-day blast, 2 Frosties. BFP! Beta 10/13 = 264! Beta 10/15 = 702! EDD 6/21/14
My doc said a good rule of thumb is 10-15lbs for the first half of pregnancy (20 weeks) and then that leaves you 15-25 lbs for the last half of pregnancy. FWIW I am six inches shorter than you and had gained 5lbs by my 15wk appt and doc told me that was fine. She said that baby, fluid and placenta probably weighed close to 3lbs of my weight gain.
I workout 4-6 times per week at pre-pregnancy levels and I am not eating poorly. I think your dr. must've misspoke, four pounds does not sound right for the average weight gain.
I have gained about 20 lbs so far. At my last Dr appt I gained the smallest amount of weight. I also quit smoking when I got my BFP, so there was alot of weight gain, and my M/S was the kind that if I didn't eat like every 2 hours I would get sick, so there is more weight...
My Dr hasn't said anything, I haven't really changed my diet, although I do try to get all my fruits and veggies in, but sometimes that just doesn't happen and I figure some is better than none. And I have started walking too.
I just talked to my Dr this morning about weight, and I really like what he had to say. Basically he said you absolutely cannot compare your weight gain to other women, it is different for everyone. 25-35 is the average ball park, some will gain it steady, some won't.
With that said if you do want to compare your weight gain I like this chart from Babycenter (I greatly dislike the link posted above, as it is too generic)
hmmm...I must have done something wrong, because all I got from that was a graph with even less specific info than that other link.

Don't sweat it.
You kind of sound like my stats, MINUS the fact I am 4 " shorter than you.
Yeah that was my point. I think the originally posted link is way too specific. 2.26 Lbs for week 20? Scales aren't even that accurate.
I just wanted to give OP another site too look at. I recommended the chart because it is an easy visual too see where you fall. But on a whole I don't like the comparing of weight gain, we are all different with different bodies and different metabolisms.
I am glad someone is at least in the same boat as me! I am 5'9", normal healthy weight pre-pregnancy, and I've already gained 17 lbs. at only 16 weeks. I've never weighed this much in my life.
I also had no morning sickness in my 1st trim, which was great..except that I was so hungry and had to eat something every 2-3 hours. It's also been hard because of the cold weather to get motivated to exercise as regularly as I should. For the most part though, I have been eating healthy and the past few weeks have been working out more regularly.
I asked my doctor about my weight gain at last visit, and she wasn't worried at all. I was the one who brought it up. I was really discouraged at first about my weight gain when I was reading that others on here had barely gained any weight in their 1st trim, and I had already gained alot, but I agree that everyone is different and, as long as you're eating healthy and exercising, I wouldn't worry as much about the number on the scale.
I'm up 10lbs since BFP and my OB is not concerned. And I'm 5'8 and started out overweight. I'm gaining right on track, but not gaining too much or too little. She's satisfied with the weight gain. If your doctor isn't concerned, don't let it worry you.
