This IVF cycle will be my first time on heparin since finding out I have elevated ACA levels. I'm not sure if this measurement makes sense, it's just what I have scribbled in my notes from my meeting - I'll be on 7,500 WS 2Xs daily (it's the WS part that confuses me).
My mom is really concerned about the prospect of me being on heparin as my grandfather recently almost died from an overdose of blood thinners.
So my question is, are you monitored to make sure it's not too much, and if so how and how often.
It would be great if you could help ease my mind and my mom's.
Thanks
Re: Preg Lovenox/heparin ladies, question for you
They should send you for weekly platelet counts for at least 3 weeks to monitor your levels and make sure your blood is not too thin once you're on the heparin. I'm on 10,000 units of heparin twice a day - previously I was on 40mg of Lovenox twice a day but was just recently switched to heparin. If your 7500 is the same "measurement" as my 10,000 then you're not on some crazy high dose. But they should monitor your levels for a few weeks (I go to quest labs and get a blood draw once a week whenever I start a new "dose".) So ask about that if they don't offer it up!
My blood still clots if I cut myself or something, it just takes a wee bit longer. You are going to be FINE!! And this very well may be just what your body needs to get pregnant, and stay pregnant. GOOD LUCK!!
