OMG......MY SON'S MAN PART'S

when my son got circumsized when he was born, the peditrician said everything looked great.  but when we go to his well visits has has had to break the skin twice!!!! he say's the the skin keeps covering the top! he gave me instructions to just pull the skin back once a day and it should be fine!! Well he had to do it again at 4mths and again i do what he tells me.  Now that the next visit is not untill next mth for 9mth well visit; i'm worried that he will have to do it again!! it hurts me so bad to see my son deal with that pain, and i can only imagine that now that he is 5mths older that he REALLY feels the pain now. :-( have any of you ladies had to go through this?

  • My nephew is 15 months old and it's still happening.  Just do your best to pull it back as much as possible!

  • DS had to have a procedure to fix this.  His original circ was botched and it basically had to be redone from step one.  He was 3 1/2 months old.  I won't lie, it was the worst 45 min of my life, even after numbing him.  Just follow doctor's orders.  Its not fun, but you gotta do it!

  • This happened to us, but only at his two and four month visits I think.  At six months he checked and said it looked good.  After watching what he had to do to DS (ours just yanks it down!), I vowed to do a better job at home...it looked so awful!  Just pull it down during a diaper change, or I do it in the bath or right when he gets out.  You have to pull it back farther than you think the first few times and then you will notice it doesn't really stick anymore...but keep doing it!  Our pedi said it has to be done until the area above the penis doesn't have that swollen look to it.   That is all skin he needs to grow into and it will stretch out and take care of it.
  • DS is going through the same thing. Our Pedi said "You need to see a 'rim' " It hurts the first couple of times, but if you do it everyday it won't hurt anymore.

  • It happened to us to.  I thought I was doing a good job but I guess I wasn't pulling it back enough.  At his 6 month visit she yanked on it and the rim around it looked red and really fresh, like she re-opened a wound.  I guess you have to pull it back farther than you think.  She said do it once a day and everything will be fine.  I do it during/after a bath when his skin is softer so it isn't as uncomfortable for him.
  • We've never once had to do this.  Our pedi. never said to do it and his "boy parts" look fine...dr just checked them at his 6 month apointment last week.  My husband watched the circ. when he was a newborn and said the doctor took a lot of skin.  The nurses even told us that our pedi. does the best circumcisions and they look pretty gruesome, but look great in the end.  Maybe this is why??

  • This was my biggest fear, because I had a friend who's baby had that problem.  From day one, I was vigilant about pulling the skin down at every diaper change and bath.  Like PP said, you have to push it ALL the way down, as far as you can push it.  That was a mistake I was making at first and I had the pedi show me exactly how - I was surprised at how far down the skin could be pushed.  GL!
