Toddlers: 24 Months+

What time does your toddler get up?

I feel like a big mean mom today because I let my DS cry it out at 4am when he was wide awake and thought that I should let him get up. He only cried for 5-6 mins and then just babbled...then at 6:45am I had to wake him up to get ready for daycare.  Should I have done this? What time does your DC get up? TIA

Re: What time does your toddler get up?

  • DD wakes up between 6:30 and 7:30. We usually bring her into the bed with us when she wakes up and play/cuddle for about 30 minutes. It's nice to be able to wake up slowly as a family. : ) When she wakes up earlier than about 6, though, we let her play with the stuffed animals in her crib until she starts yelling for me...which usually only takes about 15 or 20 minutes. If she wakes up before 5, not crying, we leave her to her own devices. She usually falls back asleep within about 15 minutes.

  • Normally between 9-10am. She has a 10pm bedtime though. :-)
  • At 7, on the days I go into the office I wake him up at 6:15
  • DS usually wakes up around 7.  If he does wake up early, we still leave him in his crib until 7 anyway.
  • ds goes to bed between 730 and 8pm and will get up around 8am on his own. i have to wake him up at 730 to go to daycare on weekdays.
  • Sammy sleeps until sometime between 8:00 - 9:15.  I am very blessed...
  • DS is very, very, VERY light sleeper. He wakes up usually when he hears our wood floors creek when I get up at 6:15. On the weekends he usually gets up around 6:30 anyway.

I would do almost anything to have a sleeper. DS is NOT one.

  • DS gets up at 7:15 on the weekdays when I have to get him up for day care.  On the weekends it anywhere from 7:30-7:45.  Sometimes I hear him whining at 4ish but I never go get him.  That is just way too early for either of us to be up!
  • I wake DD at 7:45 to leave for Grandma's.  Fridays are my day off.  Last Friday and Saturday she slept till 9:30!!!!!!!!  I was one panicked Mommy Friday when I woke up....Saturday I just enjoyed it...lol.  She used to wake up around 7 and we would let her play in her crib for about an hour.  I say as long as your child didn't SCREAM for 20 minutes and he was happy in his crib in the monring then you didn't do anything wrong!  I can tell DD's whining cries with her "I AM SCARED!" cries!

  • On days that DH has to meet me to exchange the kiddos it's about 545am. On days that we don't..Sam will sleep till around 8am.
  • Lately DD sleeps until 6, which is a miracle because she got up before 5 a.m. for months and months. I never go get her until she's really crying or else I hear her pooping. I put different toys in her crib every few days, so as long as she wakes up in a good mood she'll play with those for a while. This morning she was playing in her bed so I brought the monitor into the bathroom and took a shower. As long as your DS wasn't screaming, there is nothing wrong with letting him work out his own issues at 4 a.m.!! I have a video monitor, so often I'll watch her play as I'm still snuggled in bed. It's also nice because I peek in on her when she's crying. Sometimes it's because her foot is caught in the bars or she's dropped her pacifier.

  • I would have done the same thing and have. I wake up my 7 month old at 6:10 and my 2 yeare old at 6:30 for daycare and on the weekends they sleep until they get up.  My 2 year old gets up typically around 7 or 8 and my baby the same although she slept until 8:40 this past Sat and I loved it.

  • My DS sleeps from 8pm to about 7 - 8 am.  I feel very lucky.

  • Usually around 6:30am but lately it's been more like 5:30am which is killing me.
