Babies: 3 - 6 Months

"Ferber Method" Success

Decided last night NO MORE COSLEEPING! Husband thought I was bluffing. Then at 6:30 when LO got tired I put him in his crib. I did Ferber method and it only took 30 min to get him to sleep. I cannot even tell you how painful that 30 min was listening to him ball his eyes out! But I knew it was best for me and LO. I cannot wait to sleep with DH. It has been almost 6 months since we slept in same bed. we need to some quality time together ;)

  • I'm glad it worked out for you! Congrats!

  • Awesome! My LO cried 20 minutes his first night and I cried right along with him the whole time. We're on night 4 and he's sleeping so much better!
  • We had to start  modified sleep training ourselves this week. It took LO 30 mins (with 5 minute checks) to fall alseep the first night, she woke 1 1 /2 hrs later and it only took 10 mins for her to get hersefl back to sleep (again with 5 min checks). the rest of the week has gone fairly well as well. So far so good! Lo is sleeping MUCH better and for at least 8 hrs a night (most often 10 though). She still wakes to eat at least once a night but it's way better than waking every hour like she was.

Good for you for doing what you feel is best for your family! It's not an easy thing to do to hear your LO cry but you are doing the best thing for him/her to help teach good sleep habits.

Question - did you really do Feber meaning you went in every 5 minutes to comfort/ soothe or did you just let him scream for 30 minutes?

    This. No snark, just curious.

Glad I wasn't the only one who read it this way.Ferber isn't CIO.

While she is using the wrong term, at least it was oly 30 minutes and not 8 hours.  LOL

    So true.

But posts like this are why Ferber gets such a bad name on TB (and IRL).  Because people say they "Ferberized" when really they just used the CIO method.  And they are very, very different.

Agreed...people have no idea what they are talking about when it comes to this.

  • Clarification:

I used ferber method and I did go in 5 min, then 10, then 15. Correction to PP It is a type of CIO method. Just a lot more human contact. So I DO KNOW AWHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT.
