Who has High Thyroid

I was diagnosed with high thyroid last thursday and i will be retested this friday to see if it is 100% correct. What meds did they put you on. And ive felt sluggish for the last 6 months, anyone have this symptom and did you feel better after you were put on meds

Re: Who has High Thyroid

  • By "high thyroid" do you mean high TSH?  Or an overactive thyroid?

I have a high TSH so my thyroid is underactive.  I'm on levothyroxine, which is generic synthroid.  I take 50mcg every day.

  • hmmm.idk? i'm having my TSH levels retested. I thought he said i had high thyroid tho, but i could be wrong bc i got  alot of info that day. and he said sumthing about synthroid
  • I am considered "hypothyroid".  I take 125 mcg of synthroid.  It does take a while to get your thyroid under control and I had to go through medication changes every 3 months.  It will not just event itself out in a week.  Just be prepared.

    Good Luck!

  • I have hypothyrodism and take 50mcg of Synthroid.  I really didn't have too many symptoms, my doctor noticed levels were slightly high during routine bloodwork.

  • I had hyperthyroidism due to a tumor on my thyroid.  After radiation, my thyroid gland is now dead.  So I now have hypothyroidism and take 100ug of levothyroxine (generic synthroid) to keep my levels optimal.  It is a huge game to play to get your levels just right.  Even the most minor of changes can make a huge difference.  You need to stay on top of it and see an endocrinologist to monitor you closely, especially while TTC and during pregnancy.

  • I have hypothyroidism.  I was on levoxyl but I just switched to a new medicine, Tirosent.  I take 50 mg.  Tirosent is in the gel form so there are no extra ingredients.  I was having a few side effects so my doctor wanted me to try it....so far so good... my doctor wasn't sure if insurance would cover it because it is new but it did!!
