I just confessed to refusing to give Mikey favored milk, but I let him have some of my milkshake(and some fries) while DH ate In n Out so we could have some peace before getting M's veggies ready.
I never give Mikey sweet snacks but will give him a half dozen whole wheat crackers if he's fussy an hour or so before dinner.
I don't give M juice, but I would. He just happens not to like it
Re: Would you or won't you?
Margaux drinks just whole milk or water, but we let her taste almost anything she is interested in tasting. She has had root beer, coke, milkshakes, ice cream, ginger ale, tea, decaf coffee (Would have been caf if I weren't pregnant), chocolate, whatever.
We don't give her that stuff as snacks, we just let her have some if she is interested in what we're eating. She doesn't like juice either, and we figure why push it?

We're really trying to hold off on all refined sugary treats for Charles.
He gets about 2 oz of watered down apple juice in the mornings.. that's it. Somes days he slurps it down, some days he just isn't into it.
He hasn't had chocolate yet and we're hoping to keep it that way for as long as possible. He does like fig newtons as a treat and I've given him a bite or two of choc chip cookie (minus the chip part) and he likes that. For a sweet, he gets fruit or yogurt drops or crackers or cranberries.
But like Sarah, he's a super picky eater, too. Pretty much lives on cheese and crackers right now. Trying to get him to drink milk out of a sippy has been a disaster, too. I've been caving and giving him a bottle in the evening just to make sure he has something.
Owen just started drinking chocolate milk (he never liked it before) & asked for it for the first time yesterday at lunch (we were out for lunch & he never asks at home). Liam hates chocolate milk for now, & Keegan would drink anything that he could suck down (not kidding, anything).
Since Keegan has weight issues, I am so laid back with him & also because he is my third. We allow him to eat things the boys were not able to at this point ; ) Like his first lolipop - ugh, shoot me now.
We use to water down juice, but since my kids need the calories we don't. They are only allowed to get a cup a day & most days they don't even ask & we don't offer (unless they are sick).
I let Aaron eat cookies.
There. I said it.
But for the most part I'm trying to be good. He LOVES fruit, so I indulge there. And I have given him vanilla ice cream (loves) and chocolate milk (not interested) and he loves chocolate now (cake mostly, I'm afraid of choking for actual chocolate).
I'm pretty laid back overall but haven't tried peanut butter or tree nuts yet. I'm waiting until he's at least 2--my pedi says 3.

I guess I'm in the minority because I'm not so strict on what Ellie eats. The meals I cook for her at home always include a meat, a starch, and a veggie, and she always gets fresh fruit, which she loves. But the veggies often have cheese on them and the meats might be a hot dog, chicken nuggets or fish sticks. I do let her drink chocolate milk because she just won't drink much white milk and she is allowed one juice box or cup of juice a day. And when we go out for dinner with her (which isn't that often, actually) we will let her have things like french fries or mac n cheese, both of which she loves.
Oh, and frequently on Sundays we go to the mall and for lunch she gets a grilled cheese sandwich and tater tots from Sonic at the food court
She is a healthy weight and eats lots of veggies and fruit at home, so I feel comfortable that she is getting the nutrition she needs and these other indulgences aren't hurting her. And truthfully, she eats WAAY better than DH or I - we usually throw something in the microwave or order in at night after she and DS are in bed - Bad!!
