Success after IF

Its a good thing that we're not TTC right now

because I would be flipping out!  My friend just told me that she took 2 pregnancy tests and they were positive.  She has a son who is Jacob's age.  They got pregnant immediately when they were trying for their first.

In the last 2 years she's had an ovary removed.  And now she got pregnant their 3rd month trying!  Sheesh!

I would be so jealous if we were TTC.  I mean, she only has one ovary!

Just a month away from going off BCP to TTC #2 and I guess I'm getting more sensitive to BFP announcements.

  • Must be nice for her! I still get little twinges of jealousy (not as bad as they were before I got pregnant, but still) & I'm not even close to TTC #2 yet!

PS - can I ask what your IF Dx was & how you conceived your DS. Also, why you decided to go on BCP after having your DS? I am asking b/c I am back on BCP after having DD b/c we def don't want another kid right now, but we will eventually (likely sometime btwn DD's 1.5-3 birthday) & I am thinking about getting off BCP now & either chart to avoid or do withdrawal method & chance it. Our Dx was only MFI, but I had severely short luteal phases off the pill for like 8 cycles & probably would have had the problem longer, but we ended up going to IVF/ICSI b/c of DH's Dx. Anyways, I was jw sorry for the long back story, hahaha.

  • aww hugs, they still get to me too.  I think they always will.  It's one of those crappy scars of a memeber of the IF club!

We had a scare when Jacob was about 3 months old that I was pregnant - actually it was a c/p.  And we decided that we weren't ready for another child, so I went back on BCP.  Our official diagnosis was DOR (DH was fine), but I also had really short LP.  In fact, after my c/p after Jacob, my cycles were only 21 days.  :(

We have decided that around Jacob's 2nd birthday (next month) we're going to start trying again.  We'd like them about 3 years apart.  Were going to try on our own for a bit, but I don't see that working well.  So, we'll go back to the doc relatively soon - like by the early summer.

Personally, I like being on BCP with the predictability of getting AF and knowing I'm not pregnant.  Since my cycles were only 21 days without it, I didn't want to get AF that often!

Thanks for sharing! I know what you mean about not getting AF that often, hehehe. You def have given me something to think about.

  • Totally understand!  I am so senstitive to announcements, and unfortunately have pushed away some people due to them becoming PG over the last year.
