Re: ??? (BR-)PIP of the Week ???

  • Nothing too exciting going on this week, but I did finish my DIY cribskirt this past snowy weekend

The artwork for the nursery is finally starting to come in and I need to get those framed and put up.  Hopefully I can get this room done before the end of the month so I have the last month to just relax and wait for this little guy to get here!

  • In light of the lunar new year, I made B a little outfit. I accidentally made the jacket a bit too big for him though =P but I didn't have time to re-do/alter it since I didn't start on the project until 3 days prior.

Here is him actually posing for a pic! And here is a close-up on the buttons (that took me a whole night to do!)...

Btw, B is suuuuper cute! and look at all that hair!

  • Thanks ladies! Yeah, I had all this stuff in mind planned for celebrating but we got so busy that all I ended up doing was making the outfit and I didn't have time for anything else! We did end up having dinner with my parents this past weekend but even MH couldn't make that cuz he ended up coming down with a nasty cold =/ B did get his first red envelope though, so I guess that's all we had for "celebrating" the event =)

  • first haircut.

this picture is a few weeks old (11mo pic) but I like his expression, he's modeling his training pants, and it kind of shows off how much hair he used to have.

  • inamra - LOVE B's chinese new year outfit!  I can't believe you made it - so talented!  did you have a pattern?

and Lori - Libby's one year photos came out so well!  you did a *great* job with the props and outfits.

No, I didn't =/ I'm actually a really sloppy seamstress (??? I was gonna write sewer but then I was like wait, that's not the word I'm looking for =P) and I just do it by making some initial measurements and then eyeing it from there...which meant that I (1) had to make 2 pants before I got it right (2) ended up a jacket that was too big for B...but oh well. I followed an online tutorial on how to make the buttons, thanks to my coworker's suggestion. What's funny is that I spent $15 on materials and apparently I could've gotten an already-made one (that probably fits better) from SF Chinatown for $10. Oh well, at least it carries sentimental value and MH hates going to SF.

And yes Lori, the pics turned out great! Was that the outfit you were originally going to use for her bday? I'm glad u guys were able to get some really cute pics out of it! I esp love the last one with the balloons =)

So cute! I love the expression he has for his first haircut! How did you guys get him to sit still? I'm still trying to figure out how to cut off B's long hairs which is growing in the back like a mullet, but I'm too scared to do it!

He's adorable and I think the outfit turned out great.  I love handmade stuff, even if it's a PITA and more expensive the sentimental value is priceless!

I took him to a children's salon that recently opened in the area.  Doubt we will go there every time (although they did say they would send me great coupons over email which makes it reasonable) but they did a great job.  For the younger set they don't have typical chairs -instead the kids sit in a riding toy, or on a sadle or something. like this:

    image

Jack was in a go-kart on a pedestal that had buttons that made sounds.  He had just woke up from a car nap so he wasn't too rambunctious so he sat still but I didn't leave his either!  (it had a seatbelt but I didn't trust it too much).  He is already swayed by peer pressure, he checked out all the other kids (it was a busy saturday) and then seemed excited for his turn to sit in the toys.

  • more pictures!  I was going to wait to do a first b-day post after his actual bday but just couldn't wait to share these (even tho many of you have seen them on FB)

We had a small family bday party for J last weekend.  Theme was baby mickey :)  I made the banner (downloaded the "disney" font and found a mickey shape clip art then just put it all on fun scrapbook paper).  I also made the hats and bought a mickey punch to make confetti.  Cake was ordered from a local grocery with a nice bakery and I added the vintage mickey toy to the top.

minimal damage to the cake, he did decide he liked frosting though after a rocky start (he made me wipe his hands after the first bat at it).

Oooo!!! Yay for more pics!! I really love the cake/theme and decor! It's really cute and soooo nice!  Haha, it's funny/cute how he didn't really do much smashing! I wish B was that "considerate" about cleanliness--whenever he eats, the food is all up his nose, in his eyes, ears, and hair and all over the place.

Oh yeah, I think I remember you mentioning the kiddie hair salon before! Glad J was so good for it! They're smart for getting those chairs!! It's like getting to ride on those toy cars/truck outside of grocery stores =)
