Only 19w4d and I can't walk!

My hips just gave out on me this morning :(  Especially my right one.  I can just barely walk.  I have so much walking to do from where I park for work to my building and for the classes I take.  I am so worried this is the start of something chronic.

DH's cousin was put in a wheelchair around 23 weeks through delivery with hip problems.  Might this be temporary?  My OB's office is taking forever to get back to me and I can't find anything online.

Re: Only 19w4d and I can't walk!

  • My right hip has bothered me the entire time (sometimes when I stand up I walk like an old person until I stretch a little!)  Both of my hips pop now (during sex Embarrassed ).  I mentioned to my Dr.  that my right hip was bothering me and she said it was totally normal and really all they can do is offer physical therapy for it!

  • I am so sorry that you are having trouble.  Last pregnancy this happened to me but it was more towards the end of the pregnancy and I just waddled and groaned and cracked and popped when I walked.  It sucked.  Yesterday night I woke up with horrible right chest pain and right shoulder pain and I can't lay down and I am on-call for work so I can't take anything that would help me sleep in case it works.  I am a zombie after 2 night of having to walk around since I can't get comfortable any other way.  I feel your pain and hopefully it will subside.

  • Just heard back from the nurse:  Several things she recommended I have just done within the past few days: massage therapy, yoga, warm bath.

Now I need to try the chiropractor and some Tylenol.

She also said even though my belly is small, a pregnancy support belt can make a big difference.  Anyone tried one of these?  She said there are cheap, effective ones out there.  Just what I needed - a girdle! lol

  • My hips have been horrid the past weeks... To the point where I just want to lay in bed and cry. Do you have a pregnancy pillow/body pillow to put between your legs? My sister sent me her Snoogle since she didn't use it during her pregnancy and let me tell you, it has made such a difference in my hip pain. Sure, it's still there, but it is about 80% better. I was waking up every hour and needing to flip over and stretch out my hips, but now I sleep like a baby.

And yoga is great, too! I actually just signed up for a prenatal class once a week for a six week period. My doctor also said it would help.

Sorry you are experiencing this and hope it gets better for you! :)

  • No experience, just wanted to offer hugs. I hope you can get some relief soon!

  • I've been put on bedrest due to the same problem, I had bad hips before though, and my sciatic nerve is just pinched I guess. I am still waiting on my referral to a physical therapist. Sucks being on bedrest but at least it's not due to the baby's health.

I wish you luck, just take it easy when you can.

I have a body pillow on one side and a wedge pillow on the other.  I've been sleeping wonderfully with the 2 of them until last night, and now today is the worst hip pain.  Probably connected :(

Thank you ladies for the well wishes...  I'm excited to see the chiro tomorrow!
