VBAC
Anybody else flip-flopping?
I had non-emergency c/s after dd would not descend and I failed to progress after 23 hours and now that i'm pg with #2 i find myself flip-flopping between really wanting a VBAC and thinking about not putting my body through possible tearing (I know it's selfish, but it's also really scary).
My latest idea has been to just stay home for as long as possible and when I feel like i have done enough at home, go to the hospital and if i havne't progressed, go for the c/s. I hope I don't get blasted for this as I really am being serious baout my concerns.
What "plans/ideas" do y'all have this time around?

I don't think that's crazy b/c it's kind of a happy medium if you are OK with a repeat c/s, but you'd know that your baby was ready at the same time.
That being said, I do hope I don't have a ton of tearing, but haven't felt any flip flopping yet. How far along are you?
First, thanks for not blasting me, i don't post very often because some people on here seem to be trigger happy about blasting
Second, I'm 15 weeks and have wanted a VBAC since just after my great c/s experience 2.5 years ago. I just feel like i can do it if given the chance.
Maybe what I need is to read about how to avoid tearing, like techniques to help the skin be more pliable or something.
I sort of wonder why we all plan so much. It's okay to not even decide but leave it as an option. You can wait and see if you go into labor on your own or not. I don't think I've ever heard anyone say that the tearing is worse than a c/s recovery. Personally, I'd rather have a set of stitches than a c/s recovery.
You don't have to decide now, just keep seeing what happens

I totally understand your fears. I'm worried about tearing too. I spoke to my doctor about it and he made me feel a lot better about it. I think you might feel better if you read more on how to prevent tears and talk to your doctor/midwife. Also keep in mind that the vast majority of tears are minor and heal quickly. The 3rd and 4th degree tears that you hear bad stories about make up a very small percentage of women.
And I agree that you don't have to make a decision yet. If your doctor/midwife is on board with VBAC, then you know you have that option but you can always wait and see how you feel at the end of your pregnancy. Or like you said, wait to go into labor and see how things are going.

I had a C/S with #1 and a VBAC with #2. I had a 3rd degree tear with my 2nd- needed a vacuum which I think "helped" with that. And while it really sucked, it was still easier than the C/S recovery. I will honestly say the worst part about having the vaginal is the lack of bladder control now.
I am currently flip-flopping on #3. While my VBAC was successful it was not easy and I'm just not sure I want to go through that again. OB says she will do whatever I want....but believes that this labor will be easier since it will be my second vaginal. We have decided....together.....that if I go into labor before 39 weeks I will try for the Vaginal and if baby isn't moving down easily I will go for the C. (Problems have been with descending during pushing- with the first I had forceps and she didn't move so I had the C. The second needed a vacuum after over 1.5 hours of pushing) After 39 weeks I will schedule the C (GD/big baby).

Honestly I flip-flop a lot. My heart really is set on having a VBAC but then I remember what labor was like and think that I can't do it. I am afraid that if I do go in they will give me an epidural and constant monitoring and it will just end in a c-section anyway. So why should I bother?

Yes. I am back and forth about delivery more than ever now that it's getting closer.
I had an emergency c-section after a scheduled induction at 42w nearly 5 years ago.
My heart is set on a VBAC...but only if the baby is under 9 pounds, and between weeks 37-39. Anything after that, and I'd honestly rather a c-section again. Then I remember the days of labor I went through with DD, and how I almost died...and I immediately recommit to a repeat c-section w/o the option of a VBAC.
This happens daily. Sometimes multiple times a day.

I also had a second degree tear, and found the recovery from the tear much easier than from my c/s, and I didn't have a "bad" c/s recvoery. I was able to manage the discomfort from the tear with Advil, unlike taking the serious painkillers after my c/s.
After my VBAC, the day we brought DD#2 home from the hospital, DD#1 was sitting on my lap, and we were playing together on the floor. I don't know if I would have been able to do that with a RCS.
