Re: Moms with EDs

  • I'm primarily a lurker and vary rarely post anything, but I wanted to let you know that..no, you are not the only mom with an ED. Pregnancy was quite possibly the hardest thing I've ever lived through...but the most gratifying, as well. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find many supports either (that specifically dealt with ED as it relates to pregnancy)...If you want to talk, I'm here..you can private message me

  • I struggled with an ED for years and really had to let go of a lot of lingering behavior and gain much higher than most women to even get pregnant in the first place. Now I'm close to my pre-preg weight but not my pre-fertility issue weight--which I'll probably never reach. Since I've had the baby, a lot of the ED thinking has been minimal for me thank God, as I was worried that my desire to lose weight would bring it back. I guess what happened is I gained much more weight than I ever could have imagined and my world didn't fall apart. I'm trying to adopt and live by a much healthier attitude with it for my own sanity, health and happiness. I think those thoughts will always be there, which I am ok with and continue to challenge. As long as the actions/behaviors aren't, I can accept that this is how my brain works. In other words, I try to "act as if" I were "normal" and hope my thinking follows. This seems to work for me. It's tough for sure though.
