Day 1 of new nanny. She already texted me around noon to let me know how things were going.
I called her and left a message 20 minutes ago. She hasn't called back. I assume she is trying to feed or get DD2 to sleep.
What is the standard call-back time frame (both ways) for a nanny?
Re: How long should I give new nanny to call back before I freak out?
Is there something urgent that you are waiting to hear from her?
My DCP usually calls me within 2-3 hours. Sometimes it's right away, sometimes it's not.
Honestly, I don't wnat my DCP on her cell phone all day. I'd rather have her snuggling my kid, making lunch, doing activities, etc.
No it isn't urgent, but 2-3 hours seems excessive (especially for the 1st day). I think there is a difference between being on the cell all day (agree with you) and calling back your employer.
well- think about it- do you always hear your cell phone ring in the house? I know I don't.... and even if you do- if you are attending to the baby - how easy is it to get to the phone? i think 20 minutes is surly not anything to worry about.
i would call again around 45 minutes - or call the house phone (if you have one and instructed her to answer it)
I would think an hour or so. Who knows, maybe she's having a hard time putting your LO down for a nap or can't find the correct binky or teddy or whatever.
Sometimes DH calls me when I'm dealing w/ some issue w/ DD and after I've finally resolved whatever her issue is, I take a few minutes for myself, go to the bathroom, get a glass of water, etc. before I can move on.
Yeah I agree with you. I'd be annoyed that she hasn't called you back yet, maybe discuss it with her tonight.
I absolutely looooove my DCP, so I tend to let a lot of little things go. Sometimes she's slow with printing out reciepts for me, or responding to texts, etc, but I'm really happy with the care she provides, and I'm really comfortable with her (been using her for 1.5 years) so I just let it go.
I hope she calls you back soon!
