farting all the time and spitting up an hour after she eats

LO is 2 1/2 wks. old and on Alimentum for a milk protein allergy.  She's been doing better on the formula (no more constant water poops), but she farts all the time.  I mean almost constantly.  Also, she sometimes spits up an hour or more after she eats.  Has anyone else had these experiences?  I've tried Mylicon, doesn't seem to help and the constant farting makes her so fussy- poor thing can't sleep.

    I feel for you. We're dealing with the same thing. LO was diagnosed also with GERD so he's on zantac for reflux which seems like it has helped with some of the pain during feeding, but he has tons of gas that seems very painful and disrupts feeding and sleep. We also just tried mylicon and I'm losing any faith in that fast. I would love to know something else that would help, though for now that was all the doctor could suggest.

    Since your LO has a milk protein intolerance it?s possible that your LO could be having difficulty breaking down the milk proteins in Alimentum because gassiness and spitting up can both be symptoms of a milk protein allergy going untreated. I would recommend thinking about a switch to an elemental formula, like Neocate. Elemental formulas are made up of individual amino acids (the building blocks of proteins). This means they don?t contain any milk proteins and are 100% hypoallergenic. HTH and GL!
