Nurseries and Baby Gear

Registry Question

So, DH is from a VERY VERY small country town. As I found out from our wedding, no matter where I register, people will just go to Wal-Mart and pick things out for us.

So here's my question: Have you ladies found that pretty much everything you can get at BRU, you can get at Wal-Mart as well? At least online?

I'm thinking of just registering at Wal-Mart this time around so I don't get a bunch of duplicates and random stuff I don't want...

Re: Registry Question

  • IMO, Walmart has a very limited selection of baby items.  How about still registering where you want (because most likely not only your DH's family will buy you gifts), and if you get anything from Walmart you don't need, you can return it for store credit?

  • Sounds good.  Walmart online has lots of options, many of my friends have gotten their crib, glider and other big ticket items from there, not just the small stuff.
  • Thanks ladies! What is IMO? Where's that dang term glossary that I forgot to save to my favorites?? Ha!

  • Walmart online seems to have a lot of options- and they have the option for people to order things to arrive at the store and not have to pay shipping- which seems to be the main reason people don't want to purchase from online registries... you can also try an Amazon.com registry or MyRegistry.com and let people know that they can just find those items at whatever store they prefer in their area.  MyRegistry lets you make detailed comments.

  • My sister warned me about that problem.  I don't know if there is a target in your area, but my plan is to put everything i can on the target registry as people are more likely to go there than BRU.

  • Sounds like you don't have many options to choose from due to where you live. My husband and I used Myregistry.com for our registry and it might be just what you are looking for. It will allow you to browse stores even if they are not within your are. Good luck!
