Back with a Question/PSA: BCBS of FL Dropped Women's Healtcare!

Hey Ladies,

Hope you are all having a wonderful Valentine's Day with your SO and little ones. We just arrived home from Michigan yesterday. We visited the in-laws and took Benjamin out in the snow (and 20 degree weather) and he hated it! It's good to be back, but I'm bummed about a notice I got from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida yesterday. They've dropped Women's Healthcare Partners in Boca, along with about a hundred other OB/Gyns in South Florida from their network. I'm crushed. I love Terry and the midwives over at WHP. I was supposed to have my annual exam in May and DH and I have been TTC for a few months now so I'm asking for recommendations of other midwives in the Boca/Delray area. I think I may also call Amazing Births to see if they have recommendations.

Ugh I'm just so bummed to see so many OB/Gyn practices pulled from BCBS of FL's list of in-network providers.

    sounds like they are going to do that to my OB in Boca also!  I was told a few weeks ago that it was going to happen at the end of February!  I am just going to pay out of network for my post partum visits and then I don't know what I am going to do.

    Oh no! I don't have any recommendations, but I'm sorry your insurance dropped WHP. I feel your pain!

    I see Dr. Fleischer in Boca and got a letter indicating this (they are being dropped too) although I have AvMed now I used to have BCBS.  Good luck.

    I had some students with this problem.  Terry's office said they hoped it would be a temporary thing as their group irons out some contract details with the insurance company.

     Basically the same thing happened to me with my OB back in 2007.  It took a couple of months while they negotiated the contract with United Health but then they were back in network.

     Hopefully it resolves soon!

    Guys, its insurance renewal season. Same thing happened to me last year with Aetna and my OB. Talk to your doctors office. Its possible that they still in negotiation and that they will keep your plan in the end.

    Thanks for the suggestions! I'll keep my annual exam and hopefully by then they'll have figured things out, if not, I'll ask Terry for her recommendation. Ugh, insurance.

    I was there (I see Rachel) 2 weeks ago for my PP visit and saw a sign about it (I have NHP, so luckily doesn't affect me)...anyway, there sign said to please call BCBS and tell them that you are disappointed, have been a patient for a long time, you don't want to leave teh group, etc to help them along with negotiations.
