He arrived Saturday night, 3 days before his official due date, at 9:18 pm weighing 7lbs 4oz.
Friday morning I started losing my mucus plug but when I went to my appointment with my midwife she checked me and I hadn't dilated at all. My cervix was soft but not open.
Saturday morning I woke up to a small gush of my water breaking. I didn't really believe it but it kept coming in little gushes for the next hour. I called the midwife and she said I should eat something and get my stuff together and come in to the hospital to get checked.
Once at the hospital I was admitted since they confirmed my water had broken. I was GBS + so they needed to get me started on antibiotics.
I started the antibiotics but still wasn't having many contractions at all and ended up being started on pitocin about 5 hours later. They started me out at a low dose and bumped it up periodically. After 4 hours of the meds my contractions got really intense. They decided to check my progress. I made it to 7cm which was great but the front part of my cervix was in the way and hadn't moved. I went through another hour of hard labor and when they checked me again I was still at 7cm.
At that point I was getting really exhausted and decided to get an epidural. That was a great decision. The next 2 hours were much less stressful. Pushing was a bit of a challenge but he made it!
We just got home today and all are doing well.
