I've noticed that now that DD isn't going through clothing sizes every 3 months that her clothes are really fading from washing, especially the Carter's stuff. Has anyone had any luck with Woolite or anything else to prevent fading?
I haven't tried Woolite, but I wash EVERYTHING in cold water. I use Tide Cold Water detergent with it. I don't think a lot of stuff has faded badly, and a lot of Tyler's things have been hand-me-downs from his brother.
I'll be interested to see responses as we have the same problem here. I wash everything in cold and use the "Free" types of detergent because of DH's (yes, the big guy, not the kids') sensitive skin. I am shocked at how badly some things fade!
We use cold water and All Free detergent or Purex. Wonder why my stuff is fading if other people don't notice it? I really see it in things like brown and blacks, and the bright pinks fade really badly.
I recommend Tide. It has an ingredient that binds to cholorine molecules (found in wash water) and prevents the chlorine from fading the clothes. Cold water also helps to keep dyes from leaching off the clothes. That being said, some of our Carter's and cheaper brands of clothes (Target) fade anyway bc they use cheap dyes.

I wash DD's clothes on warm -> delicate
We primarily use Purex detergent.
