When two month olds are awake at the same time!

Ok..my two month olds are starting to be awake now more at the same times during the day. What do you do in that situation? I can't hold them both at the same time...  I guess I am just finding it hard to figure out what to do in that case. It's such a hard juggling act for me. And I don't want to leave them in swings all day, except for mainly naps. Help!!!!  I mean I can put one on the play mat for a small amount of time and the other in tummy time but those activities only last about 15- 20 min..... Help!!

Re: When two month olds are awake at the same time!

  • My girls were pretty much awake at the same time from the beginning.  I would put them both on the mat and we'd sing and play together.  I'll pick one up and dance her around and whatnot and then switch.  I'd have them sit in the bouncy seats and entertain them too.  Unfortunately I don't hold them as often as I'd like since they are awake at the same time.  Now they sit in the bumbo seat or jumperoo more.

  • At that age, ours loved their bouncy seats. We had two of them and they spent a lot of time in there. They also loved the activity mat, and I'd put both of them on it at once. They'd both happily spend 30-40 minutes on the mat or in their seat, which was just about all of their awake time after they finished eating. Occasionally, I'd also put them in boppies and read to them or bring them upstairs to our bedroom and turn on the ceiling fan and let them stare at it while I talked to them or sang to them. They also loved that.
  • i lay a blanket down in their room and we all lay on the floor, i keep boppies nearby and a bouncy and just kind of move them around and hang out.  i read books to them and we talk. (i talk)  i do this as long as they will tolerate it. Then some hang out time in their bouncies by the window or sometimes we will go for a walk.  sometimes ill wear one.

  • Our routine is to eat, each gets a diaper change, and then we hang out on the play mat, or under the play gym, on the floor in front of the TV.  Sometimes I'll put on a music DVD (I am slowly but surely turning my kids into Parrotheads!) and we'll sing, or sometimes I leave it off and we'll just talk while they bat at toys.  Or I'll put them both in bouncy seats and we'll read a book.

  • Thanks for all your tips...

I find it frustrating and stressful because they each only last about 15 min in on the play mat, they don't like the bouncy seat, and when I walk one around the house to show her things and talk to her, the other one is left screaming and crying. They don't really look at a book yet so that's not an option right now. When do they start to play a little more on their own and not cry as much?! grrr!! lol...  Sorry just need to vent. I'm having trouble with two babies I don't know women do it with three!! :) I really wish I could take them out in a stroller on a walk...at least it may be a form of entertainment that will stop the crying.

  • I did stations. At that age my guys didn't have much play time b/c their feedings took forever. But even so... I'd do the play mat (sometimes both do this together), tummy time (which they hate), boppy, bouncie and/or swing. Whatever #1 was doing the other did after him and I'd move #1 onto the next thing. I still do that now, we just have more options. If they got fussy then they either went in the swings or 1 was on a boppy while I held the other. The play mat is the only thing they really do at the same time. I can't wait for the weather to get nicer so we can go for walks.

That is basically what I do.. stations. One in tummy time for ten minutes, then the other on the play mat, then in the swings...or I walk one around the house shortly..usually it all leads to crying and screaming after a half hour total. Ugh. Needless to say I'm exhausted. I REALLY want to take them on their first stroller walk!! Supposed to be 50 this week here so we'll see....  We haven't even opened up the box for the stroller yet but I'm all about getting outside. At least it will be another option of something to do.

  • I'm going through the same exact thing right now too...must be a 2month old thing!

    Good luck!
