Trying to Get Pregnant

Appliances (NTTGPR)

First or all....Happy Valentines Day!

My DH and I are in the process of closing on our very first "big kid house" as we call it!  The house has no appliances in it so we get to buy new.  We are trying not to spend a ton of money on them but still want something nice.  I was hoping that you ladies would recommend some appliances.  There are so many options out there.

So...what do like/dislike about your appliances?  What would recommend?  THANKS for you help!

  • Congrats on the house!! We are closing on ours in about 2 weeks.  In the past we've had a good bit of GE products, and they always broke!

  • We have Kenmore everything (black) and they have been working great! We got everything at a Sears "scratch and dent" facility - I think its just called a Sears Outlet. We got them at a discount because they were scratched or dented, but often you can barely see it or it is on a side that is covered by a cabinet.

  • I don't have specific recommendations for products, but definitely ask about floor models, open-box returns, etc. - we got our washer and dryer for about 40% off because someone bought them, they didn't fit in their laundry room, and brought them back.

  • I'm not sure where you live, but where I'm at we have a Sears Outlet and they sell floor models and overstock. We bought our appliances fairly cheap. Our fridge has a big dent on the side. At the time it was a $1700 fridge and we got it for $800 and where it's placed, you can't even see the dent. Our washer and dryer were new and just overstock and we got them fairly cheap as well.

  • We have kitchenaid stainless steel and I love them. Especially our 5 burner stove top! It's awesome! Our dishwasher just broke so we went with a Whirlpool one as a quick fix.

  • I've had great experience with Viking appliances. They are a little pricier but they hardly ever break! Plus you can sometimes find really good deals at appliance outlet stores.

  • I just recommend you DON'T buy from Sears. Their customer service is crap. For dishwashers, Kitchenaid is top of the line! Definitely the best quality!

ETA: Kenmore is what we have for range, microwave, fridge. And Whirlpool for washer/dryer.

  • We just got a new Maytag dishwasher. I have never owned a Maytag appliance before, but my Grandma swears by them and talked me into it. It is by far the BEST dishwasher I have ever had (or my mom or MIL for that matter). I love, love, love it!! Everything comes out spanking clean and bone dry. I highly recommend it.

  • We just finished remodeling our kitchen and we went with all KitchenAid stainless steel appliances. I love them! Everything is working great, and they were pretty reasonably priced. We got them at Pacific Sales- they have some really good sales and promotions....
