?No Signal? Summer Infant slim & secure ? anyone else?

If you have the Summer Infant slim & secure baby monitor, have you had issues with it saying ?no signal? and freezing up?

This past Thursday our monitor started freezing up really bad.  My MIL was watching DS yesterday and she said it froze up a lot for her.  We have used this monitor for 4 months now with no issues and now all of a sudden this issue has popped up.

I did my research and figured that Summer Infant wouldn?t be able to do anything for us and would say that other digital devices on 4.2Mhz will make the monitor say ?no signal? and freeze up.  Sure enough, that?s what the lady told me.  She said that the monitor can be fine for a while and then one day other devices start affecting the Summer Infant monitor.  BRU couldn?t accept our monitor as a return since it?s been 45 days since purchase even though we received it from our registry.

The lady suggested getting a cheaper portable house phone.  I would get rid of the phone but we have to keep it for our security system.  Also she said to check our internet modem to see what Mhz it is.

Has anyone else had this issue with their Summer Infant monitor?  Were you able to fix the issue by getting rid of other 4.2Mhz devices in the house?

I?m aware of the current recall on the battery for this monitor, as well that the CPSC issued a recall due to 2 strangulations b/c the video cord was too close to the baby?s crib.  However, I?d like to keep this monitor if at all possible and not have to fork out money (that we don?t have) for another monitor.

Re: ?No Signal? Summer Infant slim & secure ? anyone else?

  • We've had issues with ours saying "no signal" also. However, we don't have a home phone line so I know that's not why. We have wireless but I have no idea what Mhz it runs on.

I think it seems to be a faulty monitor. I was really excited about it when I first got it because it's so small. However, I keep reading bad things about it. Makes me wish I would have gotten a different one.

  • Only if I keep it too close to my Macbook Pro.  If I'm using my laptop, then I just put the monitor on the other side of the room.
