Another growth comment/question

It seems all of our approximately 18 month old LO's are hitting growth spurts. Being a bit slow on the uptake,  I finally noticed that M's height is making all his shirts too short. 18 month and 2T shirts fit him fine everywhere else, but his tummy is constantly on show.

So what to do? I don't want to get him bigger stuff and have him swimming in it. Is there a brand that runs longer in the torso?

TIA.

Re: Another growth comment/question

  • I don't know what brands are longer but I still dress Simon in onesies so his tummy is never exposed and he doesn't get cold.  He is usually layered, so either a long-sleeved onesie or turtleneck with a t-shirt over it or a short-sleeved onesie underneath a long-sleeved t-shirt.

  • DS is long and lean, and his belly is always exposed.  He has a few shirts that button like a onesie, but he prefers a t-shirt underneath.  Oh, and his adjustable waist pants expose his diapers like plummer's cleveage.  He's a ltlle dishelveled looking, but happy.

  • I agree with pp, maybe use onesies underneath his shirts, that's what I do with A, although that's going to end soon b/c onesies only go to 24 months and they're getting tight in the crotch. Next winter he won't be able to wear them anymore. I find that Carter's shirts in 2T are usually long enough. Maybe try 3T and just shrink them in the dryer?

    Cute image!

We are in-between sizes and going through the same thing. R seems to have a bigger upper body than lower Huh?

If he was a girl we might consider his pants being "capris" instead of high waters. lol

  • Thanks for the input girls. And I have thought of onesies since he still has a few, but like Cristina I'm aware that there won't be in his size for much longer. Still, maybe I'll get him a few plain, cheapo ones to wear under his shirts.

And about the looking disheveled, M has totally been rocking the Seattle circa '91 look - long sleeved tee with a flannel shirt over it for extra warmth. But I'm pretty sure Kurt Cobain didn't let his belly peek out.

  • switch up to Children's Place 3T.  It may be a little big but probably not as big as you might think.  CP runs a bit smaller than Carter's and some of the other brands so you might find it fits better than you think.
