  I would probably ask my friend next time I saw them "So, what's with the 'y's in your son's name?"  Yes, I'm a total B.

  Awful. It's bad enough that kids can't spell today because of spell check but we're not doing them any favors by giving them screwy names.

  I don't even mind it in Brycen, because I went to school with a Bryce.  But Garryt?  Really?

  I have a student this year named Brycent. However, if you call him anything but Bryce he will cutabitch. I don't think he has such an awful middle name though :-)

  It's not the Y (Bryce is a legit variation of Brice), but the CEN that I have an issue with. Bryson should have been the go-to spelling though.
