Anyone try no to dress there DD in too much pink?

Where do you buy your DD clothes? I am having the hardest time finding girl clothes that aren't covered in gender stereotypes and or lots of PINK.

I would like to find "girl" clothes that are identifiable as feminine but not in your face gendered. The only places I seem to find them are the more expensive stores so far and my poor daughters wardrobe is dwindling.

Any recommendations on stores or website would be appreciated. TIA

  • Last time I was at baby Gap they had a bunch of girls clothes that were grey/black/white.

  • I too try to not dress lo in so much pink. Old Navy has some nice picks that aren't pink. Target's circo brand has some nice/affordable stuff too!

  • I've never been a big fan of pink.  When we found out she was a girl, we hinted to everyone that we'd prefer gender neutral or purple clothing instead of pink... we still received almost everything in pink, lol.  We used what we had (and are still getting), and she is a VERY pink baby girl.  However, the color does look nice on her... Stick out tongue

When we go back home, we'll probably ignore the baby store chains and department stores as those have the majority of really gendered clothing.  Adult clothing stores with a kids section will be your best bet for finding girl clothing without all the "princessy" femininity attached to them, i.e. pink, lace, ruffles, shiny, etc. in my opinion.  Think Gap, Old Navy, etc.

  • My sister is going through this with her daughter and has found a bunch of stuff at a local consignment shop, and most things still had the tags on them!  I guess a lot of people would rather have the pink stuff and sold all the rest to the consignment shop.  She found some cute grey dresses and a dark purprle sweater.  Super cute and, of course, affordable!

If you can find a nice consignment shop near you, it might be worth checking out.

  • I don't have an issue finding non-pink stuff, however I love pink so DD is dressed in that color often.

Walmart has Garanimals, Target has Chirco (or however it's spelled), and JcPenney has a ton of non-pink stuff as well.

I've even gotten things at Gymboree that are girly, but not pink.

  • carters has a lot of red and blue girls clothes.

Gymboree right now has lots of navy, green, and red.

  • MIL buys DD clothes from the Boys' section at Baby Gap!  She's found some nice red, navy and gray sweatshirts that don't look gender specific at all.  It's a nice change from all the pink.  Although, then people think DD is a boy when I take her out in those clothes....

Just last weekend, she had on a black outfit with pink polka dots around the ankles and pink and purple flowers on the black sweater.  People still thought she was a boy because she was dressed "too dark".  Whatever...  :)

  • Thanks everyone for all the suggestions!

My DD is constantly getting mistaken for a boy even if she has a touch of pink here or there. I think it's funny but, can also be awkward!!
