I have to admit - I'm like 40 percent excited, 60 percent nervous/scared! I was hoping to avoid induction but my doctor has a 41-week rule and I'm about to hit it. Boo.
Reasons I'm freaked out: The baby hasn't dropped, my cervix was very high last week and I was only a fingertip dilated. She's also sunny-side up and estimated at just under 9 lbs. OMFG.
Labor dust and epidural dust please
Re: induction tomorrow
Good luck!! Hoping everything goes perfectly for you!!
Now go spend today relaxing, reading, napping, enjoying time with DH, or whatever will keep you calm!
I was induced at 38 weeks for preeclampsia. When I went in I was not dilated at all, only 50% effaced. Of course everyones bodies are different, but just to give you an idea of what I experienced..
I went in around 1 pm, hadnt eaten since breakfast so they let me have one last meal, then gave me an oral dose of cervatil (sp?) at 4 pm. That dose lasted 4 hours, and started very light cramping/bh. Then I got a vaginal version of the cervatil which lasted 12 hours (overnight), still just minimal cramping/tolerable contractions (light enough to sleep through no problem) nothing major really started until the next morning when the cervatil was removed (it was inserted on a ribbon) and my internal was done and I was given a double dose of the cervatil. Then I started contracting every 2-3 minutes about half an hour after that dose at 10 am. By 8 pm the contractions were so bad I had already had a dose of Nuvane and I got the epidural, and I had dilated 4 cm (I was still closed that morning) I was lucky that the contractions continued naturally and didn't need any pitocin. But I didnt change at all from 8pm- 2am. Since I was still only 4 cm dilated I had sent my best friend and in laws home thinking he wasn't coming. A half dose of cervatil later I was at 9.5 cm by 4 am, dilated the last half cm by 5 am and I had him by 6:22am. It was very long and tiring, but of course worth every moment! Hopefully your induction goes well and you can avoid pitocin..
Come on Sticky baby!!

When I went in for induction, I was barely 1 cm dialted with a high cervix and the baby hadn't dropped. It took 26 hours from the time my OB inserted the Foley bulb (instead of Cervadil). It took 14 hours from the time my Pitocin was started to get him out, including 1.5 hours of pushing. I did labor on my own for about 8 hours but opted for the epi eventually. Good luck!
Also, growth estimates can be very off - my OB told me there is a margin of error of +/- 1.5 lbs. So you may have a perfectly "normal" size baby (or a HUGE one).
