High-Risk Pregnancy

Update: Birth Story

I was placed on hospital bedrest Thursday evening for a prolapsed cord. Basically at some point Bryce shifted and a portion of his umbilical cord moved into my cervix (which is so short that it barely exists) and his head is laying on his own cord, but the amniotic fluid is preventing him from putting his full weight on it. The Drs. Were concerned that if my water breaks, then the umbilical cord will come out and Bryce's head would crush it and he would starve himself of oxygen and blood.

On Saturday, February 12th, my amniotic fluid started leaking. The Dr. and nurse came in to check my cervix and I was dilated 3cm. Luckily, he was not laying on his cord and cutting off his oxygen and blood supply and the cord did not come outside. If he had been laying on his cord or the cord presented first, then it would have been an emergency situation where I would have had to be put under general anesthesia and DH would not be able to be in the room. The Drs. and nurses prepped me for surgery as quickly as possible to prevent it from turning it into a true emergency situation.

Bryce was born on Saturday, February 12th at 4:31pm at 31 weeks and 1 day. He is breathing on his own and has a beautiful cry. He is in the NICU. The nurses have been wonderful. I am so in love with this tiny little baby. I am so blessed and so grateful. Any T&Ps would be appreciated.
