i have thrush as well as a huge crack that is open and raw and every time ds nuses it opens a little more.  my midwife prescribed all purpose nipple ointment or apno.  i just uswed it for the first time and really stings.  is this normal

    I used APNO for a long time and I am trying to remember whether it ever stung... I vaguely remember a little stinging at the beginning, but the vast majority of the time it actually felt good to keep it on.  If it keeps stinging I'd call the MW.  Good luck with the huge cracks.  I've been there.  It is terrible, and I certainly cried through nursing for awhile... but I stuck with it and I am good now.  It will get better.

    I don't remember the APNO stinging, but my nipples hurt so bad at the time that I may not have noticed the cream hurting me, too.

    I would just call the midwife in the morning to ask.

    I am also taking Diflucan.  I took a super dose tonight (4 pills) and then one pill a night for the next 14 days.
