We're using prefolds and covers and love them. If you're in the city a few stores have classes on the different kinds. We went to Giggle and liked their system-but didn't end up buying much there. If you have prefold questions I'm happy to answer, or I can point you to a few websites.

BFP #2 3/10/10. EDD 11/15/10 Babycakes was born 11/5/10!
I only have a handful of friends that use cloth diapers but the majority of them use BumGenius due to their "one size fits all" (there are snaps to change the size of the diapers to fit the little one) as well as their absorbency and easy to clean.
My husband and I are still on the fence as to which brand to use but are planning on attending a class that a friend at BeByBaby since they go through the various brands allowing you to make a more well informed decision.
We primarily use FuzziBunz and LOVE them! I do have a few BumGenius, and like them, too, but personally I think FuzziBunz are even easier than BG. It really depends on your LO's anatomy, though, as to which kind might fit the best.
I also took the class at Be By Baby (when I was still pg), and found it to be very helpful. There's not a lot of places to buy cloth in Chicagoland, so I previous to the class I had been doing most of my research online. There are tons of great resources online (I read a lot of reviews on www.diaperjunction.com and Abby's Lane, as well as here on TB), but the problem with online is that you can't actually touch the diapers and see them in person. That's why the class was helpful to me. After seeing the different types of diapers in person, I knew that FuzziBunz were the way I wanted to go, and I'm really glad that they've worked out.
Whether you take a class or not, I recommend that you don't buy too many of one kind at first. Try a few (several websites have CD trial packages that you can buy) to see what kind works the best for you. Then you can go back and buy more of your fav type.
Good luck! I was a little intimidated by cloth at first, but forced myself to try it for two weeks. I'm so glad I did! It really isn't difficult at all, as long as you work out a system for using and washing, and it saves so much money (not to mention the environmental benefits).
I use cloth diapers and I love it! I would definitely recommend taking a diapering class at a local boutique, they are free and very informative. I order all my diapers online at https://www.bellabottoms.com/
Depending on where you live, Kustom Kribs in Park Ridge has cloth diapering classes, or Cutie Poops and Bottoms in Orland Park
