My little guy is 12 days old today and still has his.
DD(9)DD(5.5)DS(3)DS(born 2/1/11) July 2006, lost a baby at 8 weeks, natural miscarriage , May 2009 lost Zoe Eliana at 17 weeks no reason known, possible under developed organs. Lost two more babies in September 2009 at 7 wks 4 days. Had myomectomy surgery to remove a large fibroid in November 2009.
LO is 3 days old and hers is almost off. At the hospital they said it will fall off naturally. Just as long as it is not really red or pussing it should be fine.
Xander was two weeks old when his came off. I don't think it was ready then but we went to the doctors office and when we got home, it was in his t-shirt. There was a little blood around his bb and on the diaper. I think the diaper rubbed it off while he was sitting in the carseat. It could have stayed a few days in my opinion.

Our fell off today at 10days, but we were also using alcohol the way the hospital said we needed too... but out ped told us today NO hospital is supposed to tell their patients to do that anymore!
Isaac still has his and it doesn't look like it is going to come off anytime soon. I would say that as long as it doesn't look infected, red, or is bleeding then it is okay.
London's fell off at about 8 days old. We did not put anything on it, the hospital told us not to get it wet or submerge in water or to use alcohol that it dries and falls off on it's own and it did.

This subject is funny to me. It has changed with every kid over the last seven years. When I had ds1, they put this triple antibiotic stuff on it that turned it green/black and they told me to put the alcohol on it at every diaper change and bath. When I had dd, four years ago, they didn't put anything on it and instructed me to leave it alone and not put alcohol on it at all.
This time, at the same hospital as the other two kids, they put the triple anitbiotic stuff on Xander's cord and instructed me not to put anything on it. They said that if it gets crusty or something, to use alcohol to clean around the stump but that was it. It was only as needed but they would prefer I leave it alone.
Odd how things change over time...
