Trying to Get Pregnant

Temps and shift work

I'm sorry if this is asked a lot. My Dh and are going to start trying again and last time we just had sex alot, no taking temps, or charting or anything. This time I want an idea of what is going on with my body since it took over a year for us to get pregnant.

My question is how do you take temps if you are a shift worker? My sleep schedule is all messed because of working days and nights and I read you should take your temp. about the same time each day. Any suggestions?

  • This link should help answer some questions.  I think with shift work you just need to chart after 3 hours of sleep.

  • I work nights 3 nights per week and the other 4 when I am off, I sleep at night.  Like PP said, it is important to temp whenever you get at least 3 hours of sleep.  What I do is temp whenever I am going to sleep the longest.  For example, on the nights I work, I temp after I've slept that day (which is usually around 3-4ish) when I get up for work.  My days off, I just temp whenever I wake up.  I DEF do not temp at the same time every day bc that is pretty much impossible.  I have been able to see a clear pattern (only some days I have wonky temps), so its been working for me.  GL!
