What is everyone doing? Anyone staying in and cooking a nice meal? I think we are staying in and I'm thinking of making something yummy, although I don't really know what to make. I was thinking something nice-ish, but I could always make DH's favorite meal (my grandma's tacos and spanish rice)....
Ideas?
Re: Valentine's Day?
DH has a conference for class all day long, then work till 8 or 9. I have to work 5 hours. So we can't celebrate on the actual day. Today, he went bike riding while I cleaned the house, then we did things around the house together before showering and collapsing in bed for a 3 hour nap. Go up at 8, ordered Papa John's and got a movie from the redbox. We got Red with Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, Helen Mirren, Richard Dreyfuss, John Malkovich and Mary-Louise Parker. Fabulous movie.
Tomorrow, we're going to lunch at Red Robin after church, then going rock climbing. That's really our celebration day. I got him a card and am going to do more slips for his "Love Jar" that I made him last year for VDay--it's a jar covered in words and phrases that describe us and our relationship. Inside, I put 100 slips of paper about why I love him. I think I'm going to do it every year and then put all of the slips in a scrapbook and keep adding to it each year. That should be a cool record of our love story.
I don't know what we're doing yet. We just spend a bunch of money on dinners out during Devour Downtown, so I'm sure we're not doing anything major. I'd be happy with a trip to Penn Station or Chili's
ETA: Ditto the above about the siggy! He looks like such a little boy, rather than a toddler in that picture! Too cute!!
Brian's gone all day today and tomorrow night, so we're "celebrated" last night by trying to go to Carrabbas at 4:30, only to find a 2-hour wait, so therefore getting really pissy and driving home with no dinner.
Yeah, real romantic. It has not been a good weekend here.
We went on our first date since Oct. to the skyline club. they had a stupid price-fixed menu and it was pretty much a huge rip-off. The view was amazing though and it was nice to get out together. I'd like to try them on a normal night and see if it is better.
we actually talked about doing what Kathy did last weekend next year instead of going out for v-day.
I'm sorry you weren't impressed with Skyline (I haven't been there) but hope you enjoyed your time away!!! I'm glad you got some time alone!!!!!!
I'm sorry Lauren! That sucks!
Meh, no big deal! I've never been big on V-Day anyway
I'd rather celebrate when we're both in better moods!
Ryan's trip got pushed back until Tuesday so we're having crab legs for dinner tomorrow night (at home) and I'm going to pick up a Great Wall of Chocolate from PFChangs for dessert.
It's too much of a hassle to make reservations and find a sitter so we'll just do a nice dinner at home.
We're not big on going all out for holidays like Valentine's Day, so we'll probably just hang out here...maybe order take-out, but that's not much different than most nights
I do have a doctor's appt tomorrow morning, so it should be nice to hear the LO's heartbeat on Valentine's Day!
Meh, we think Valentine's Day is kind of lame. All it is is a really busy night to try and eat dinner out.
Plus my birthday is 2/18, so that's just another reason to kind of ignore the holiday.
I'm making penne a la vodka tonight (since it's a Sunday and I have the time), so tomorrow we'll eat leftovers. Probably on the couch in our sweatpants like every other night.
