Rec your convertible car seat

I'm so lost. We need to purchase two convertible car seats and the more I look the more confused I get. We seen so many today that were so hard and not cushioned at all. Please Rec yours.

Re: Rec your convertible car seat

  • I have the Britax Boulevard 70 CS.  It's very plush and comfortable for my DS, he really enjoys it.  It also has velcro on the straps to hold them out of the way when you're putting LO in, I can't even explain my excitement with those little strap holders.

It's pricey, but the Britax Marathon also has very good reviews and it looks and feels comfy, also!!  You could get a Boulevard for one car and a Roundabout 55 for another (also Britax), or a Marathon for one and a Roundabout for the other, lots of combinations to make it a little cheaper (and have which ever one you like best in the car you use most).

  • I have spent months looking and researching. We need 3. We were going to get the britax marathon, and 2 evenflo triumphs. However after more research the evenflo scored better then the britax. So we are now getting 3 evenflo triumphs. We are going with the new model because it is the dsame as the advance but higher weight limit.
  • We went with the Evenflo Symphony 65 and have been very happy with them.  DS is very comfy, has a lot of room to grow, and it's extremely easy to install (or even move from car to car if need be).

  • We love our Evenflo Triumph, DD1 has been in it for over a year.  We plan to buy another one for DD2 soon.  They have a good price at albeebaby.com

We just got two of these this weekend and I am very happy with the purchase. DS has more room and seems very comfortable and it fit very well in my small car! It also recieved very good safety ratings. It was between the Evenflo Symphony or the Evenflo Triumph for us and I liked that the Symphony could be used as a high back booster.

    I liked this feature, too.

We have 2 Britax Marathons and a Britax Roundabout 50. We really like them. Easy to install, very padded with plush covers, super easy to take apart and wash, etc.

My cousin has a Triumph and she loves it.

FWIW, Since car seats expire and are often outgrown by height first, you may still find yourself needing to purchase a booster for the next stage.

That is definately something to watch for.  Ours expire after 8 years, I believe, and I was sold on it when a mother at BRU said her son was 5 years old and still safely in it- not our plan, but found it impressive :-)

My DD is on the petite side, so I have no doubts that she will be in her Marathons until they expire. She is a tiny 36 inches and 26lbs at 3 years, and she is only on the 2nd harness slot. She has a ton of room to grow.

also with the boulevard, no need to ever rethread the straps

  • I just got the Britax Roundabout.  I have a small car and it gives us more room than the infant seat surprisingly.  I love it so far.  I like that it is tethered when RF, which I believe only britax and sunshine kids offer.  It just makes it a little more secure.  I would have gone for a larger britax if it would have fit in the car since I'm expecting her to outgrow this by height on the early side, but hopefully we will have another car by then.

Did you get the Roundabout 55?

ETA: Because the Roundabout 50/55 have the same shell height as the Marathon. The Marathon has a higher weight limit but that won't matter for most kids. I have have both seats.

I have the 55.  I didn't know they had the same shell height.  Good to know.  Maybe this will last longer than I thought
