D.C. Area Babies

This is so frickin' relaxing.

I have off and C is in daycare. We were going to spend the day running around to playdates but some of the other kids got sick, so I sent C in and am taking the day for myself.

Of course, for "myself" means putting away piles of laundry, vacuuming and grocery shopping. But I'm still in my pajamas, on my second cup of coffee and about to hit up Wegman's and Costco to leisurely tour the aisles without a cranky toddler demanding crackers and cookies ("craka" and "cook-cook").

Mmmmmmm. This is the perfect end to a really crappy work week.

The DC Nest. Winers welcome.

  • Mmmm...samples :)...

Sounds like a heavenly day to me.  I plan to have a similar day next Friday.

  • I forgot about the samples! And no need to worry about their chokability.

Also, I had two different kinds of dip and a brownie for breakfast and set a bad example for no one.

  • Yes

Speaking of demanding crackers and cookies...

Last night when DH walked in the door, DD looked at him, put her hands on her hips, and said "I want a bon bon (cookie)!"  It was hilarious.  Usually, she runs up to give him a hug, but the day before yesterday he stopped at the convenience store on the way home and got cookies.  So, she was expecting the same last night.  LOL.

yes. seeing as how I just wrestled my "little angel" to the ground in order to change his diaper while he screamed bloody murder and now he's laying in the crib NOT napping....I am way, way jealous.

  • Smart lady!  Yes

And while chores may not be relaxing per se, they are TOTALLY relaxing when you can get them done by yourself.  Plus you feel a sense of accomplishment after.  I toally understand that.

uh-oh, this is how DH got DD on her daily "treat" train - now, every day after day-care, she opens the pantry door and asks for a treat.

  • sounds like a great day. my life is pretty pathetic sometimes- going to target or the grocery store by myself can have the same calming effect as a visit to the spa once did.

  • I get most of my cleaning done home alone.  I just don't know when else to get a big chunk of it out of the way.  I do a little at night but after they are in bed I am cooking and cleaning up from cooking and showering, etc.  We survive on what we can do daily like the dishwasher, a load of laundry hear and there, grocery shopping, meal planning but I need to take a morning or afternoon off to really get things cleaned

I know! It's nearly impossible to get real cleaning done when C is around. I have a compressed schedule and am trying to take advantage of these days off to catch up more often.

If it makes you feel less pathetic, you are not alone.

You're definitely not alone.  Going to target or out grocery shopping by myself usually ends up being the highlight of my week.
