Here is my little 5 pound 11 ounce sweetheart.
Tuesday I had a doctor's appointment and was 4cm dilated. I had been contracting for the past 2 days going from 10 minutes on Monday to every 5 on Tuesday at the appointment. They put me on the monitor and decided to send me home because I was not changing. Around 11pm I gave up and headed to the hospital. I was still at 4cm. So they made me walk. After about an hour and not being able to breath, think, or even move through a contraction I was only 5cm. They admitted me around 1am.
I really wanted to go the all natural way but in the end I decided to get the epi. They had to break my water at 10cm and after that everything happened super quickly. She was out with the cord around her neck. DH cut the cord and they whirled her away because she swallowed some meconium. After what seemed to be forever they finally handed her to me! She is absolutely perfect. She was born Wednesday 2/9/2011 and weighed 6 pounds 3 ounces. (She lost a little bit of weight but they say that is normal.)
So far life at home has been really great! We had to see a lactation specialist because we were worried she was not latching properly and we got some really great tips. She is so mellow. Very happy. And she smiles all the time. Hope all is well with you ladies!
